Greetings!
I wanted to let you know that one of our SNACK Mom's, Gerry's mom, Roisin held a special fundraiser called "Darts for Special Kids" to help raise money for SNACK. To help you place them Gerry swims on Tuesdays and is a Saturday SNACKer! The turnout was extraordinary! To see the tremendous amount of money Roisin raised for our kids in one afternoon - click here http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/roisinboyle/snack2011friendraiserchallenge-dartsforspecialkids and if you haven't yet made a donation, I hope this will move you to do so.
Thanks to the 13 people who have helped raise over $60,000, a great effort! BUT, we do need to meet and hopefully surpass our goal of $75,000 as SNACK runs at a deficit. So it's really simple - if at least 50 of you will reach out to your friends and family to raise $300 - we can get there! Just click on any one of the links below to get started...
I know we are all pulled in many directions, the kid's schools, the extra costs we all incur raising kids with special needs - but Parent's fees only cover 50% of what our SNACK programs cost to run and we can't exist without donations. The reason SNACK is such a special place is because we have such a high ratio of staff to the number of kids participating, which is also why we run at a deficit. Our staff is unique, trained and dedicated to work with our special kids and they are there each and every week to serve our families. To show your support click here to MAKE A DONATION
We cannot operate the quality program we are committed to and we have all come to rely on without your help. I am hoping we can count on you!
Sincerely,
Jackie Ceonzo
Executive Director and Founder
P.S. Roisin's Darts for Special Kids received great PRESS COVERAGE for SNACK too! Darts Tournament benefits SNACK As featured in The Irish Emigrant - Monday May 23rd, 2011 Monaghan native Roisin Boyle discovered SNACK five years ago and has found the program to be priceless for herself and her son. She decided she would like to give back to a program, which has given her son so much, and knew that the Irish community would come out in support. With the help of volunteers and The Irish Rover in Astoria, she was able to organize a darts tournament to benefit the organization. All money raised was donated directly to the program, which can be a costly venture and involves running a comprehensive organization...to read FULL article and see PHOTOs of the event click on this link http://www.irishemigrant.com/ie/go.asp?p=story&storyID=9127 |
