If Christianity could have a ceremony it would be much like the Olympic opening ceremony. We would raise a flag for each tribe and nation and call a role.
"...Romania? Where are the great saints from Romania? OH! There you are and look who is with them, the wonderful martyred missionary, Derek. Oh, Derek, look how many believed because of your sacrifice. They are the ones in white shirts with your face on them! Praise God for all our Romanian family. And now how about Zambia?....Zambia, did you good churchmen make it? O, there they are. Let's all give them a cheer; they endured to the end and are finally here. And how about Mexico?..........."
Each would be represented with our colors and our own anthems sung in our own languages, but somehow we all understand all the words.
Gold would line the streets and sapphires would adorn each robe. Rubies would ornament each head, just down from the crowns we are given when we first arrive to parade into the giant arena.
We would see fireworks, for our eyes would see every bursting star spelling out the name of Jesus.
We would see angels flying over-head with white glowing feathers that beat out the rhythm of the new song we are singing.
There would be children gathered up on the hill where the river Jordan flows into glittering land of Canaan's promise. They would all be clapping and dancing arm in arm faster and sweeter than a Coke-Cola commercial. Their voices would ring out as they see the parents and siblings they had not seen for years and decades.
We would clasp arms into embraces with those we have had to say goodbye to. Our celebration would seem loud and incessantly exhilarating.
Then angels would land and encircle us. They would hush and bow, covering their eyes and faces. As a holy stillness blankets us, we would turn our eyes to the grandstand. We would look to the One who looks like a Lamb. As we begin to understand who this One is, we would all begin to bow until every being is humbly, gratefully on their knees.
He would be standing solemnly, looking out over the massive crowd of blood bought redeemed. He would raise his hand and we would hear him say, "The plan is complete. Welcome, my friends from every corner of the earth. Your joy, and mine is forever full! Well Done!"
The ceremony would be spectacular for we would all be in one place and in one accord. Harmony and unity would be the only emotions.
We would know real peace.
"Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. 14"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city." Revelation 22:12-14
May you be there.
