Beloved friends,
Merry Christmas!
I got into the Christmas spirit before Wal-mart
did this year. I think it is because of
all the critical situations in our country right now. With more uncertainty around us, we tend to
turn our faces back toward our Savior.
With the lack of money we look more toward our Provider to sustain
us. With the loss of income and jobs we
turn our faces away from materialism and greed and enjoy the things we already
have. As we are pressed on every side, we
are becoming more Christ-like.
I hear on every commercial or TV talk show that the
spirit of Christmas is not receiving but giving. Christmas is not the getting or the
giving. Christmas is about a covenant-making God who fulfilled the covenant He made with Abraham in the book of Genesis. The promise of God was to bring a Messiah to
save us. History proves that God was faithful to complete
that promise and now we look toward the future portion of the promise which is
our eternal salvation in Jesus.
Galatians 4:4 says, "But when the fullness of the time was
come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem
them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because you are sons, God hath sent forth
the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying Ab'ba,
Father. Wherefore thou
art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through
Christ."
So, as you contemplate this Promise in your life look toward the eastern sky and tune your ears to hear a trumpet call! We have received from God the mighty and
grand adoption into His family because of the baby who was found lying below the
star. We can never shout loud enough, sing strong enough or express fully our gratitude to the Lord for His sacrifice on the Cross. We join our voices with angels,
shepherds and wise ones. Rejoice! We have a Savior, Christ the
Lord!
Love,
