Dear Friends
Following is a list of Allison's April 2007 dates. As always, while we realize that you might not be able to come to a church service or concert, we ask for your prayers for us while we're on the road. Thank you in advance and we pray God's blessings on you and your family.
On the April 2007 Singing News radio chart, "I'm Bound For That City" reached # 29 before dropping down to # 31 on the May chart. Jim Stover of Crossroads Marketing and Rhonda Thompson of Rhonda Thompson Promotions are doing a great job promoting Allison's music. We thank them for their hard work and devotion to their calling. Allison's next single will be the Dad Speer composition, "The Dearest Friend I Ever Had". Brian relates the following story about this song: "My grandfather, G.T. "Dad" Speer, was a songwriter, and back in the 1920s and 1930s he wrote the music and his friend and lyricist, James Rowe. They were a great team and composed many wonderful songs together. When Mr. Rowe passed away, Dad thought his writing days were over. He did not considered himself blessed with the gift of lyric writing; yet his heart was full of music and he didn't want to give up on writing. One day, in 1934, when he knew he had a song inside of him, he knelt at his old, wooden piano bench and prayed to God for the gift of lyric writing. After many tears, he got up, sat down at the piano, and composed the music and lyrics to "The Dearest Friend I Ever Had." Dad went on to compose many southern gospel standards such as "Heaven's Jubilee," "Daniel Prayed," "Sing Me A Song About Jesus," and "I Never Shall Forget The Day." If you have a local Southern Gospel radio station, please request Allison's latest single, "The Dearest Friend I Ever Had." If they do not have her new CD, have them email Brian Speer for a copy. Thank you in advance for helping to make this new single a success.
Recently at the Gaither video taping in Nashville, Allison was thrilled to meet one of her musical favorites, Randy Owen of the legendary country group, Alabama. While at the taping, Randy told the group that his mother is a regular viewer of the Homecoming Videos. Thanks to Becky Isaacs of the Isaacs for this great photo.
During a recent trip to Allison’s mom's home in Parksville, KY, Allison and Brian scanned hundreds of photos of Allison as a child. Be sure to check out the the photo page on Allison's website in the coming weeks for a gallery of her as a child. This picture is of Allison at about five years old. Notice her dirty fingernails and grimy hands; they're still that way today!
