Dear Modern Italians,
We're sorry for the confusion - just because
you receive our email correspondence, doesn't
mean that you are registered on our new
community website! We encourage you to take
the time to register on My.ModernItalian.Org
to be able to receive all the benefits of
membership and to be able to personally
participate in the creation of Italian culture.
As you know, the Modern Italian
Network is a
free, internet-based community dedicated to
providing its
members (you!) with information about Italian
culture, access to special offers from its
affiliated sponsors and member companies, and
a place to express and deepen your interest
in Italy and Italian culture. Our community
is one where everyone has something in
common
and we are growing fast!
This newsletter is special in that it
describes the contributions of members of our
new website and provides direct links to our
website. You will find out where to find new
recipes, where to stay in Italy, participate
in the creation of a Sicilian recipe
cookbook, and how to find discounts on
Italian products and services from our member
companies. Buon divertimento!!!
Modern Italian Network is absolutely free
to individuals and students and open to
anyone passionate about Italian
culture regardless of ethnicity, race,
nationality, or any other discriminating
factor.

Grappa - Salt-encrusted fish - and Pasta cca Maccu
We love Italian food and we think you might
as well. Therefore, we created a Modern
Italian Mini-site dedicated to Italian
food where you can add you recipes, learn new
recipes, enjoy the photo gallery and add to
it, and interact with others who share you
passion for authentic Italian food.
Modern Italian Mini-sites act as, well, small
websites within our new community website.
There are currently mini-sites dedicated to
food, travel, Italian-American culture,
language, and other Italian-related themes.
Once you register as a member, you are
welcome to join any public mini-sites and
learn from and share with other members.
Our mini-sites are available for anyone who
would like to utilize our website for
Italian-related interaction. Likewise, our
mini-sites are available to companies to use
to keep in contact with current customers and
to make new ones. They are an ideal place
for people to share their experiences with
others through the blog, photo albums, and
document management capabilities. Just
imagine having a place for all of those
travel photos and what a great testimonial
they would be!
Just send us an email and we'll review your
idea and set-up a mini-site for you. In the
meantime, enjoy some great new photos and
recipes on Modern Italian Mangiare!
We are also very interested in moderators
for our existing mini-sites. If you are
interested in sharing your Italian passion
with other members, let us know. It is a
great way to get exposure for your particular
passion!

Call for Sicilian Recipes for National Publication
Our friend and author Toni Lydecker,
introduced to us by Kathy McCabe of Dream of
Italy, is writing a cookbook on
Sicilian-style fish and other seafood, and is
interested in recipes and the stories that go
with them-could be a family recipe or a great
dish you had in a Sicilian home or
restaurant. She's already covered for
classics like pasta con le sarde but
is still looking for unusual dishes or ones
with a regional twist. Toni is also
interested in recipes for Sicilian desserts,
for a chapter at the end of the book-simple
cakes, cooks, fruit desserts.
We would like you to support her efforts to
find truly unique, Sicilian or
Sicily-inspired dishes for her cookbook. She
will provide the lucky people whose recipes
are used in her fabulous cookbook with credit
for the recipe and a special gift.
Most importantly, however, is for us to share
our family secrets with others who are truly
passionate about Italian culture!

Meet Fellow Modern Italians
As of this morning, our online community site
has grown to 500 members! This includes many
of you who have already registered but is
much less than our email newsletter
readership of over 6,000 Modern Italians
around the world. We invite you to register
on the community website and meet people like
Ashley Bartner and her husband Jason.
Ashley and Jason are living the dream of
living in Italy. Last year, they moved to a
region in central-eastern Italy known as Le
Marche and opened their own Agriturismo, or
rural bed and breakfast, offering, of all
things , cooking classes!!! Both Jason and
Ashley have years experience working in the
hospitality industry in America and are now
operating a successful Italian- American
operation!
Ashley has really taken to the website and
has added photos and recipes to our site. We
encourage all members to utilize the free and
unlimited photo albums, blogs, and to
participate in the mini-sites.
