Greetings!
As we indicated in our communication yesterday, former VADA Chairman Mike Martin, who is the current NADA Director for Virginia and the GM Representative for NADA's Industry Relations Council, has reached out to General Motors, offering a clarifying amendment to legislation before the Governor which would to unquestionably clarify that EBE will not be impacted by this legislation.
Though VADA has repeatedly assured General Motors throughout the process that the legislation does not impact GM's Essential Brand Elements program and that it has never been VADA's intention for the bill to apply to EBE. GM indicates that still feel otherwise. General Motors has expressed to GM dealers that its concern is that it feels that the existing bill may undercut EBE and that it simply wants to protect its existing program from being affected by the new legislation. If that is the case, this amendment, which even more clearly states that the bill does not apply to EBE, should lead to a positive GM response to preserve EBE in Virginia. |
