In-Plants Anticipate Upgrades, Mergers, Moves in 2012
I anticipate our department being reviewed for financial viability. We stay competitive with the exception of large 4-color process under contract with a local vendor. We compete and win against them when it comes to digital color printing with price matching and a better quality product. We have a Xerox 260 that is 4.5 years old and is still cranking out great results. We still do a large amount of offset and have been told that we are the largest user of carbonless paper in our area. Customer service is our strong point. Looking into purchasing some scoring and perfing equipment to replace aging equipment.

We will be moving our intercampus mail operations into the same building as our offset, digital print, fulfillment and standard mail operations. This will finally allow us to have all non-retail production units in one building, to cross train and gain some staffing efficiencies. With this move we are also planning a renovation of our existing offset and warehouse area to improve work flow. New equipment in 2012: perfect binder, (possibly new CTP - if we have enough reserves remaining), and new package tracking software.

Our Data Center will be merging with us, adding 4 more people to staff in 2012 and we will be bringing our web-to-print solution online in 2012. Our new equipment took place this year including 4 Xerox Nuvera 288's (2 with roll systems and Bourg booklet makers), a Xerox Color Press 1000 and an auto punch machine.

We are replacing all of our 37 campus MFDs in January 2012 with Ricoh units. This will include 2 new Ricoh black & white 110 ppm units and two new Ricoh MPC5501 color units in the Print Shop. The new color units will significantly reduce the cost to our customers.

We anticipate purchasing and implementing a web-to-print system. Plus we also plan to offer posters mounted to poster board as an alternative to foam board.

I don't plan on changing much in 2012. We've seen enough changes in 2011 when the college instituted a new brand which meant a new logo for everything we produce for the college.
