Washington State University Integrates Web & Print to Create One of the Top Programs in the Country

Washington State UniversityFew university in-plants

could compete with the broad range of integrated services offered by the publishing facility at Washington State University in Pullman. "As the web began to flex its marketing muscle several years ago," explains the Director of Printing Steve Rigby, "we saw wisdom in adopting web/electronic communications into our regular service offerings and viewed it as a partner and not a threat to traditional printing services."

The result is a robust 5-person web development team within publishing that offers multiple web applications and tools to the campus community. "Communicators need to be in the forefront, using state-of-the-art tools and vehicles," notes Mary Read, Director of the integrated University Publishing unit. "A fully integrated web and print communications program enhances message quality. They don't necessarily need to compete."
