Offset? Digital? Now There's a 3rd Option
by Jonelle Rexenes, Presstek
The majority of today's in-plant operations offer both offset and digital printing in a hybrid production operation. A growing number of in-plants are turning to a third option: digital offset. This is because digital offset printing bridges the production gap of jobs that can be profitably produced on a toner device versus offset. For example, longer runs (20,000+ sheets) are easily handled with conventional offset, ultra- short-run or personalized printing is ideal for toner-based digital print engines, while midrange run lengths of 500-20,000 are most efficiently and cost effectively produced on Presstek DI® digital offset presses.
