West Redding, CT, November 24, 2008- Abe Dortheimer and his company, Silver Lining, have franchised with Sandella's Flatbread Café to bring a new unit in Terminal B1 of Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. Dortheimer plans to open his Sandella's location by the summer of 2009 and has operated several other concepts in the airport including Wetzel's Pretzels, Pizzeria Uno Express and A & W Hamburgers.

"The flatbread enhances the taste of the food inside it," says Dortheimer. "We feel that the variety, freshness, high quality and great taste come together to make Sandella's a very exciting concept. It will be the first and only flatbread concept in the airport, and I think it will be a huge hit!"

Sandella's sweet and spicy Brazilian Chicken Grilled Flatbread had the sauce to be a hit, but it needed a new name.

Representing 75 percent of all grilled flatbread sales and 15 percent of the total menu mix, the Brazilian Chicken Grilled Flatbread at Redding, Conn.-based Sandella's Flatbread Café is a smash hit with guests. The flatbread features a textured sauce of toasted yellow mustard seed, North African sweet cayenne pepper, black pepper and other spices brushed on the crust, topped with grilled chicken-breast pieces and mozzarella.

First tested last fall as Sandella's Sweet and Spicy Mustard Flatbread, the pizza-like product "got a pretty chilly response initially," says Mike Stimola, CEO of the fast-casual chain. About a month into the test, Sandella's changed the flatbread's name to Brazilian Chicken Grilled Flatbread, thinking the ingredient combination tasted Brazilian. It started aggressively sampling just after. "The results were amazing," Stimola boasts.

Sandella's Flatbread Café has closed a franchise development agreement with the company Five Mikes LLC, to bring 25 locations to the Boston metro area and parts of southern New Hampshire, including Nashua, Merrimack, Portsmouth and Manchester. The Company plans to open their first location in the Financial District of Boston by the Spring of 2009. Subsequent locations will range from Boston Metrowest all the way to Worcester and southern New Hampshire.

Rapidly expanding fast-casual restaurant chain will open in Southeast Michigan.

Sandella's Flatbread Café has signed a contract with J & K Industries to introduce the hot concept to the Southeast Michigan area. Sandella's Flatbread Café is the largest flatbread concept in the world with more than 125 locations offering healthy and delicious menu items based on its famous flatbread. Sandella's recently opened in Hollywood and Orange County, California, and will soon have a location in the Newark airport. There are 400 more restaurants in development across the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates.

J & K Industries is targeting Southeast Michigan areas such as Birmingham, Ann Arbor and Troy for their upcoming stores and hope to open their first location by the end of the summer in 2009.
