We're releasing our annual analysis of the second-biggest advertsing category - automotive - and I thought you'd like to see what we've found.  Essentially, this category is headed for a rebound, up 7% this year.  Online media buys, meanwhile, are up 11% and now consume nearly one-third of all auto advertising budgets.

The report devotes a full chapter to examining the online phenomenon.  Auto dealers are just behind recruitment advertisers and real estate agents when it comes to the amount of advertising they're devoting to online media.  Through our ongoing surveys of local advertisers we've found that new- and used-car dealers are the most aggressive when it comes to using online media, and that they're twice as likely as other advertisers to be familiar with mobile marketing opportunities.
