News From Your
Garage Door Specialists
Greetings!

How is your summer going? We have been very busy here at Raynor Door Authority of New England....we are proud to announce that we received the Silver Cornerstone Award for Most Unusual Project (see sidebar) on June 14th, 2012! This is the first time that we entered a project to the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of NH annual Sales & Marketing awards. Over the last 9+ years we have been fortunate to be involved in some very unique projects and this one was certainly stunning!

We recently completed a very unique installation for the Animal Rescue League of NH, we encourage you to go to our website to see the installation.

If you have been following us on Facebook recently, we honored our "Super Techs" on June 29th with a surprise breakfast. Our guys do great work and it was our chance to say "Thanks" for a job well done! We sure hope you agree!

How Does The Lead Paint Rule Affect Our Industry....
Old Chipping Paint On Door

"Minor repair and maintenance is defined as activities that disrupt 6 square feet or less of painted surface per room for interior activities or 20 square feet or less of painted surface for exterior activities. When removing painted components, or portions of painted components, the entire surface area removed is the amount of painted surface disturbed."

The issue, according to an environmental protection specialist named Marc Edmunds who works with the EPA, is that most of the work is considered by the EPA to disturb the painted surface even if the paint is not actually touched. They argue that, according to the rule, simply moving a large surface with lead-based paint is considered a breach of the rule in some instances, but not all. It really depends on the condition of the garage door and the paint section.

If the paint is in bad condition and showing visible chips then it is a violation of the rule since the removal could in fact cause the paint chips to fall off the piece.

There is a gray area here. Replacing fasteners or hinges on a garage door wouldn't apply to the RRP rule according to the EPA; however, removal or replacement of a garage door may apply depending on the condition of the paint and the size of the door.

If you have a question about your door please feel free to give us a call, we will be glad to help!

Here is a little history of the Kwik-Wall systems created by Raynor Door Company:

First came the successful development of the of the Raynor Garage Door Company in 1942. Later, a request for an easy-to-move operable partitions was answered by turning a garage door section on its side. Thus was born the KWIK-WALL Company in 1961.

In the beginning, KWIK-WALL operable partitions were constructed of wood as that was the expertise of our founder. Over the years, KWIK-WALL transitioned from wood panels to steel and steel reinforced operable partitions to meet the needs of our customers and to provide greater strength and rigidity in our products. Our latest innovation is a new line of Moveable Glass Walls called Clear-Divisions. The KWIK-WALL experience, technology and expertise combined with glass produces the most functional and elegant movable walls available.

With over 45 years of experience in the Moveable Wall industry, KWIK-WALL has the knowledge and expertise to provide you with the best quality products, period. Wherever there is a requirement for acoustical effectiveness, visual aesthetics and panel durability, KWIK-WALL operable partition products are designed to perform at the highest level possible.

The KWIK-WALL philosophy remains clear to this day... to produce and market movable wall systems consistent with our uncompromising commitment to quality and excellence. The kind of products that discerning architects and designers worldwide rely on with confidence.
