Tracking Through Technology:

Is this 'Walkabout' a Want to See or a Need to See?

The PLL Summit is fast approaching.  The afternoon sessions feature four different tracks. You may attend all the sessions in a single track or pick choose from the among the four different tracks.

How do we as librarians want to own the new technologies? Are all the new technologies worth "owning"?

The speakers in track 4 will discuss some emerging technologies and how they work within the private law library.  This afternoon track is coordinated by Linda Will and Stacy Hinkel.

1:30-2:15 p.m.   Track 4:

The Horseshoe, The Rabbit's Foot, and 21st Century Eavesdropping

Speaker: Patrick Fuller, LawVision Group
Listening Platforms/Current Awareness...Are they worth our time?

2:30-3:15 p.m.   Track 4:

E-books: Is Collecting Vinyl Appropriate in the 21st Century?

Are the new apps of e-books truly necessary/helpful for modern day research or are they a throwback to albums, eight-tracks and CD ROMs?  A panel of vendor representatives will share their perspectives on this rapidly changing medium.

3:15-3:30  Track 4:  Owning the New Technologies
Speaker: Silvia Coulter, LawVision Group

Silvia Coulter is well versed in law firm dynamics, having been a former CMO at two AmLaw50 firms.  Prior to co-Founding LawVision Group, where she presently leads the firm's Client Development and Strategic Growth Practice business, Silvia chaired the Client Development Practice at Hildebrandt International. Please join us as Silvia addresses how the new technologies fit in with today's law librarian's responsibilities, and how we communicate to the rest of the firm why it is so vital that the research department "own," evolving applications? Libraries still provide traditional services.  Although the medium has changed, the message is the same.  At the end of the day, our responsibility is to provide the most cost efficient services to our clients (attorneys), so that they are empowered to provide the same to their clients;  the revenue source for the firm.

Stay Tuned...
