Embracing the Changing Business of Law

PLL Summit afternoon programming includes Track 1:  "Embracing the Changing Business of Law - Insights and Ideas for a Stronger Tomorrow."

Coordinated by Monice Kaczorowski, the first session is a law firm Executive Director's take on what keeps the C Suite up at night.  Law firm chiefs are facing new challenges covering everything from retaining innovative staff to creating a younger generation of rainmakers.  Combine this with the rapidly changing business of law and it is a wonder anyone is sleeping at night! Come hear about these challenges at the PLL Summit.

Monsters Under the Bed and Overdue Library Books -

What Keeps the "C Suite" Up at Night

The rapid pace of change of the legal industry.  Globalization of the economy and of legal practice.  Increasing demands from clients and their concurrent desire to reduce legal spending.   Finding creative and profitable ways to provide services.   Increasing costs and re-pricing of services associated with the growth of large business partners.  Helping people find work-life balance.   Multi-generational challenges.  Finding and developing the future partners, leaders and managers of law firms.  How the current model of law firms will evolve and what will they look like in the future.  How does all of this affect what we, as professional managers, do every day to enable the attorneys to service and support their clients?

Hear an experienced Executive Director share the concerns that he and his peers have for the legal industry and how these issues affect how we do our jobs.

Paul Morton is the Executive Director of Burns & Levinson LLP, a 125 attorney firm based in Boston.  Paul has managed small firms and larger firms in several different parts of the country.

A Distinguished Member of the
Association of Legal Administrators, he has served as a leader of the ALA at the chapter, regional and national level.  With over thirty years in legal management he has experienced the many changes in the legal community and is looking forward to exciting changes in the future.
