Build Your Toolkit
The PLL Summit is a venture by the private law library community to explore ways to embrace change, demonstrate value, and learn about leading-edge trends. In addition to our Keynote speaker and panels, the PLL Summit will host a series of tracks focusing on current issues of importance to law librarians.
Track 2 will feature a series of discussions on: Proactively Managing Your Career: How To Build Your Professional Toolkit
Jesse Katz, an Editor at O'Melveny & Myers, will discuss "Releasing Your Inner Writer."
Of all the tools in a professional's toolkit, writing may be the most crucial-and elusive. Everyone is called on to write, whether it be an e-mail, memo, proposal, report, article, or blog post, yet few of us are writers. Pulitzer-winning journalist and O'Melveny & Myers editor Jesse Katz offers advice for cutting through the jargon and clutter that blight everyday discourse-for discovering our authentic voice and writing clearly, no matter the format or audience.
"By 'editing' we're not talking about correcting the writing. My job is to enhance the message, to pare the clutter and extract more meaning."
Holly Riccio, program coordinator, interviews Mr. Katz on writing, memoirs and baseball on the PLL Summit blog. Read more...
