SPOTLIGHT

on Sarah

Sarah's third time in our program. We hope it's her last time. We hope that this time, she can put things behind her, that belong behind her and that she can put things before her that belong before her. It is because we have hope for her, that she has enough hope to come back again, and again.

Sarah is a beautiful young woman who has hopes and dreams of opening her own hair salon one day, and she certainly has the talent for it! She hit the ground running and has been cutting hair, doing colors, highlights and looking for more permanent work while still finding time to volunteer and give back the ministry.

Greetings!

First Lutheran Church

With great excitement we are in the process of moving our central office location into our new space located at 77 Franklin Square, New Britain. Several months ago we began the process of partnering with First Lutheran Church and the result is a private entrance, reception area and large main office able to hold us comfortably. We are currently planning an open house for the fall when you will be invited to come and tour all of our facilities, including our new offices.

It is our hope that this natural next step will increase productivity, awareness in the community and it will make us more available to our clientele

Garden Angel

Sarah's Garden was established in April 2011 by Lynn Rouleau and Lori Kenner.  Lynn is an intern in the UConn Master Gardener Program, and Lori is her hardworking assistant.  The vision is to create a beautiful, peaceful environment for the women, and provide them with fresh vegetables to eat.  Gardening can also be great therapy, giving them a healthy recreational outlet and an opportunity to learn new skills.

We have planted many varieties of flowers, vegetables, and herbs;
sunflowers, chamomile, and blueberries are just examples of the wonderful vegetation we are cultivating her at Sarah's Garden.

Gardens have been springing up at other Coram Deo houses as well.  At Esther's House, Heather Griffin has taken the lead in planting flowers and tomatoes around the property and the yard is looking gorgeous!

Thank you to all who donated to us in order to make these beautiful gardens a reality.
