Dear Friends of the Walnut Creek Library,
Since Opening Day on July 17th, our Friends Bookstore has been very successful (and once the cafe opens in February, sales should increase even more)! We have great merchandise, lots of foot traffic, and very appreciative customers. Many thanks to those who have donated books, and special thanks to our wonderful volunteers who staff the bookstore. We now carry reusable bags, water bottles, bookmarks, lanyards, insulated beverage cups, local cards, and more. Our store is open the same hours as the library, so be sure to stop by, whether you are looking for a book or a gift, we are sure to have something for you. We also accept credit and debit cards.
It is remarkable that in the past year, the Friends of the Walnut Creek Library has donated $125,000 towards Opening Day Collection and for children's programs. Part of this money was raised recently, but much of it had been building in the reserves. We could not have done this without your support over the years. With your ongoing help, the Friends will be able to continue making generous contributions for years to come.
The Friends support the library in many ways besides running our bookstore: managing online book sales; assisting at Library Foundation events; supporting the One City One Book program; and providing volunteers whenever and wherever we are asked. If you feel you have a special talent and would like to be more involved with the Friends, please contact me and I will let you know what opportunities are available. Our Board meets monthly and we are happy to consider any suggestions you have.
Thank you for your support! Catherine Leutzinger, President
