Leadership Training for Finelite Employees Delivers High Value and Major Growth
While most companies recognize the importance of offering leadership training and development programs to their managers and supervisors, they often limit training for frontline employees to the specific requirements of their current job. Organizations with the vision to include their entire workforce in the leadership development process often achieve significant results that carry to the bottom line, including increased productivity, reduced error rates and higher customer satisfaction.
Finelite, a Union City designer and manufacturer of high performance lighting systems for offices, educational and healthcare facilities, is a prime example of a company that demonstrated the foresight to provide leadership training to frontline employees and is now reaping the rewards of their vision. Return on Investment (ROI): Making the Leap from Training to the Real World
People Sitting PictureWe've all heard that one way to strengthen our workforce is through professional development for our staff. However, considering the lost productivity time and the cost of tuition for the class (often paid for by the employer), how do we know whether encouraging our staff to get on-going training is a good business decision?
Jerome Bruner, one of the leading cognitive psychologists of the 20th Century in the area of education, studied the effect of training as a discovery process. According to his instructional theory, learning requires "three almost simultaneous processes" to take place in the learner to result in change: "... (1) acquisition of new information...; (2) transformation, or the process of manipulating knowledge to make it fit new tasks; and (3) evaluation, or checking whether the way we have manipulated information is adequate to the task." Workplace Harassment Prevention is Top Priority for California Employers
Workplace harassment continues to be a major concern for employers in 2012. While the number of sexual harassment complaints filed with the EEOC has trended somewhat downward from its 2008 peak, religious and racial harassment complaints have dramatically increased. Harassment charges by males are on the rise in recent years, as are complaints related to gender expression.
Most employers are well aware of the business costs of harassment, including:
  • The financial impact of litigation and defending against complaints
  • The decline in morale, team productivity and safety when an organization tolerates or ignores harassment
However, there are a surprising number of employers who continue to overlook or downplay their strongest protections against these business costs: well defined company policies and harassment prevention training.  Learn more
