2012 Study Tour in Florence and Italy with Rosetta Pavone (In English)

A visual presentation by Rosetta Pavone (Artist) of a 4-week educational art and language program at the Accademia D'Arte & Instituto Michelangelo. Situated in the historical centre of Florence, there are courses available in traditional or contemporary painting, life drawing, photography, sculpture, mosaic, cooking, Italian Language & Culture. Weekly excursions are organised to art cities in Tuscany such as Siena, Lucca, San Gimignano, Pisa, Assisi and Le Cinque Terre. All classes are suitable for beginners to advanced level of study. Enrol now in a program of your interest. Commencing in Florence September 3 to 28, 2012.

The Image and the Memory Photographic exhibition by Giuseppe Leone with guest of honour Ivano Ercole (In Italian)

The exhibition 'The Image and the Memory' by Giuseppe Leone includes approximately 40 images of Sicily today and yesterday, represented through its most beautiful piazzas during special moments such as parties, games and meetings.
Giuseppe Leone was born in Ragusa where he currently lives and works, and has a gallery and photographic studio. His works developed at 360° and he has had publications regarding landscapes, architecture, popular festivals, anthropology and fashion. He works for both national and international magazines in color as well as in his preferred black and white.

Festa di fine anno 2011 with Annamaria Colasanto

The Italian Institute of Culture, Melbourne, is happy to invite its members and collaborators to a special end of year function. Featuring Annamaria Colasanto, the evening will include live entertainment and light refreshments which are characteristic of Italy.
Annamaria Colasanto began her artistic journey in 1989 when she worked with Luisa Conte and Enzo Cannavale at the Teatro Sannazaro di Napoli. In 1991 she commenced work alongside the famous Massimo Ranieri on Pirandello's "Liolà", directed by Maurizio Scaparro with music by Nicola Piovani (who won an oscar for her music in "La vita è bella" starring Roberto Benigni). In 1996 Annamaria took part in the evocative, extraordinary show "Masaniello" by Tato Russo for the Teatro Bellini di Napoli, and in 1999 she was the star of the "Sona Sona" opera concert performed for the President of the Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. Annamaria lives in Australia, after having met her future husband during a tour here in 2002.

Italy-Australia Bilateral Workshop on Biomass Conversion and Utilization

9.30am-5.00pm on Thursday, December 08, 2011 at the IIC An Italy - Australia Bilateral Workshop on the latest developments, related to the conversion and use of biomass for the production of fine chemicals, fuels and feed-stocks will be held as a separate "satellite" event, to follow the 3rd Asia-Oceania Conference on Green & Sustainable Chemistry. This additional event will be sponsored by the Office of the Scientific Attaché, Embassy of Italy (Canberra).
A significant Biomass Symposium is already part of the conference program on Wednesday December 7th. A number of the speakers participating in the conference from Italy and Australia, will also be speaking at the Bilateral Workshop on the following day.
These include: Prof. Sergio Ulgiati (University of Naples Partenope), Prof. Ferruccio Trifirò (University of Bologna) - Italy Dr Michael O'Shea (CSIRO), Prof Thomas Maschmeyer (University of Sydney), Prof Roy Jackson (Monash University), Rosanna De Marco (Dow Chemical, Australia)
The bilateral workshop will provide an opportunity for networking, information sharing and identifying potential areas for research and/or commercial collaborations.

RENAISSANCE
Raphael - Botticelli - Bellini - Titian 15th and 16th Century Italian Paintings from the Accademia Carrara, Bergamo

This unique exhibition offers audiences an unparalleled chance to see Early and High Renaissance paintings by some of the greatest European artists. Raphael, Botticelli, Bellini and Titian are represented among an amazing gamut of talent and creative splendour. More than 70 works on canvas and panel will be on display, made between 1400 and 1600 by painters in northern and central Italy.
Of extraordinary quality, the paintings come from Venice, Florence, Padua, Ferrara, Bergamo and Siena. Subjects range from touching depictions of the Madonna and Child, the lives of the Saints and moving renditions of the Crucifixion to insightful portraits of nobles. The genius of Raphael and Titian is known to all, but lesser known painters such as Tura, Crivelli, Lotto, Carpaccio, Perugino and Moroni will also announce their prodigious talents.
