The Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields winds its way through the Ballarat goldfields region, holding 25 one hour recitals in heritage churches and halls built following the discovery of gold.
 

There will be a recital of Frescobaldi's i fiori musicali, the passionate and beautiful arias of Strozzi, Carissimi and contemporaries, 17th century Italian music for lute and theorbo and other delights. Musicians from Italy will be Gianfranco Bortolato, Elena Bertuzzi and Michelle Benuzzi.

Michele Benuzzi, an Italian harpsichordist, and Elena Bertuzzi, soprano, are joined by Laura Vaughan, one of Australia's most sought after viola da gamba players, to present some of the extraordinary, heart-renderingly beautiful, sacred and secular music of 17th century Italy.

Oboist, Gianfranco Bortolato, performs as soloist with the Interpreti veneziani and other major ensembles in Italy. He will present a special program of arias from opera as interpreted by the oboe. He is joined by Shu Cheen Yu, one of the finest sopranos in Australia and brilliant Australian pianist, Anthony Halliday.

As part of Midsumma, Melbourne's Lesbian & Gay Summer Festival, ArciLesbica Australia and the Italian Institute of Culture present an evening, up close & personal, with Roland Rocchiccioli, well-known broadcaster/ entertainer.
 

Growing up in the WA goldfields, remarkable women made an indelible and impressionable mark on Roland (and unwittingly, Australia. Roland will reveal how the 'Italian Girls from Gwalia' played a significant part in Comme Facette Mammeta, Roland Rocchiccioli?
