| One In Eight Boomers Will Die of Alzheimer's Alzheimer's Disease will be the
defining illness of the baby boom generation as it ages, according to a
report released today by the Alzheimer's Association. The report, entitled
"Generation Alzheimer's," warns that 10 million baby boomers will develop
the disease as they edge through their senior years, and one in eight will
die of it.  As a result, the report says, Alzheimer's will cost the
nation $20 trillion of the next four decades and impose significant
financial and emotional burdens on American families. The implications for
the America's health care system are overwhelming, says the
study. More than half a million Californians - and 5 million
Americans - have already been diagnosed with the disease.
