Father's Trek Honors Son's Memory

On April 24th, Denis Asselin embarked on a 500-mile walk from Philadelphia to Boston in honor of his son Nathaniel, who committed suicide last year after a 13-year battle with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), which is related to OCD. His goal is to spread awareness of BDD and raise money for research on the devastating disease.

Asselin's journey will end in Boston on June 7, at the headquarters of the International OCD Foundation.

Save the evening for a great event featuring renowned OCD expert, Dr. Fred Penzel. His talk will focus on the basic "truths" of what can make up a good, working philosophy. Truth can come from many sources; Penzel draws heavily on Zen, which embodies some of the simplest and most clear ways of relieving people's suffering. His approach to treating OCD has relied strongly on these principles for the last 30 years, as they are a natural fit with cognitive behavioral therapy. Details on time and location to come.

Participants Needed for Hoarding Research

Individuals with a hoarding problem and their loved ones may be eligible to participate in a Ryerson University study. Eligible participants will be asked to complete an online questionnaire and phone interview. Registration deadline is June 30.  


A Chance for Siblings to Speak Up

If you have a sibling with OCD, plan to attend the IOCDF conference in Chicago, and are willing to share your experience, you may have the opportunity to speak as part of the "My Sibling Has OCD:  What It's Like for Me" presentation on Saturday, July 28.
