Stress is hard on any marriage, and the onoging strain of OCD can throw even the strongest relationship out of balance. The person with OCD may feel diminished as an individual and as a partner, while the spouse can feel overburdened, resentful and/or helpless.

Recognizing OCD Symptoms at School

While some kids with OCD do not have symptoms that surface at school, many struggle to hide their disorder from classmates and teachers. In times of stress, existing OCD symptoms can worsen and new ones can appear, making it impossible for a student to keep the disorder a secret any longer.

By knowing how to differentiate signs of OCD from "acting out" behavior, school personnel can be prepared to support students both academically and emotionally.
