 I first spoke with Susan, a Child Advocate working privately with children with mental health needs she had just tried JRL'S Original Shampoo Bar that morning. She told me, "Not only did I try it on my hair, I used it head to toe! My whole body feels clean but not tight. I have extremely sensitive skin and it's so nice to feel this way..." She continues; "I've been aware of the shampoo for a long time, because I had seen it on the shelves of natural food stores, and I've always been curious about it because it looks like a bar of soap, but says it's a shampoo. I was having all sorts of itchy scalp issues and it seemed like it might be caused by allergic reactions to various shampoos I was USEing.

J.R.LIGGETT'S Shampoo Bar does not have Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and it just seemed like I might as well try it... I bought a bar, tried it, and it was great! I'm a very natural person, I like that the packaging and scent are not overwhelming. I like the scent--- very clean, not an over-powering scent. It smells clean, but not a 'fake' clean.

My hair feels so clean afterwards, and it even stays clean. I just feel better that there are not a lot of chemicals in the shampoo, and I'm not thinking, 'what's this doing to my scalp?' THE itchiness FROM my scalp cleared up, which is great! I also have itchiness on my hands that I need to be careful about, and sometimes deal with dry skin on my back, this shampoo has not bothered my hands or my back. I have been using it as a full body soap and found the bar to be gentle enough for that... I cannot say enough positive good things about it."

Susan shared with ME that although she does not color her hair, she has noticed that her hair "almost has a glass-like shine." When she catches her reflection in the mirror and the sunlight is on her hair, "it's pretty shiny". She says, "I live in an area where most women color or highlight their hair, and I'm noticing that very few have shiny hair. I feel like it's special that I have really shiny hair."

Susan thought that perhaps this shampoo bar could help with her young daughter's extremely curly hair that is "very re-active to products and becomes a real tangled mess with a lot of shampoos." When Susan first approached her daughter with the idea of trying a bar shampoo, her daughter asked, "Mom you're giving me a bar of soap? You want me to use soap on my hair?" No need for concern, as it "worked fine with her hair and didn't dry it out." "She's nine years old and very happy--she likes all the lather--likes making 'hair styles' all full of suds, and she really had a good time with it--it held up to a nine year old playing with bubbles in her hair. She and I have such different hair, I was impressed with how the shampoo worked for her. At first she had no concept of how to make the bar work, but she was amazed with the results." And like many others we've run across, Susan is a bit possessive about her bar and a bit hesitant to share with her husband... she has not been willing to give up her bar except for her daughter a couple of times, but adds with a laugh, "maybe next time around I'll get him a bar."

SUSAN TOLD ME SHE WASN'T much of a traveler (although she plans on sharing HER good news about JRL'S Shampoo Bar with her brother who lives out of the country and travels internationally), I assured her that it is not necessary to be 'packin the bar' to enjoy all of it's attributes. In fact, one needs TO travel NO further than their own personal shower
