Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0 Mainstream Support Ends - What You Need to Know |
Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0 mainstream support phase ends on October 9, 2012 and will switch to the extended support phase. With extended support, help is available for questions around "how do I do this in the product" (i.e. how to print a check or apply a payment). There is also assistance for issues that support has already recorded and solved prior to the mainstream end date. No new fixes are created during extended phase, unless a customer goes onto a new support plan, which you can find there details here.
Perhaps the most important thing for you to be aware of is that if you are using the payroll module, you must upgrade to SL 2011 before the end of the year in order to get the updated tax tables as well as any changes to the W-2. The same is true for 1099's in Accounts Payable. Should the form itself change, you would need to do your 1099's by hand or another program should you not upgrade from version 7 to version 2011.
For more details on Mainstream support vs. the Extended support phases, click here.
Ready to make the upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011? Contact us to learn more or visit our website for more details on SL 2011 and what it can do for your organization.

Regardless of whether you use Microsoft Dynamics SL Accounts Receivable invoicing or Order Management sales orders, this module automates the billing process reducing the administrative effort required to process these billings and much more. RBRR allows users to better manage product licensing, contract renewals, pricing and deferred revenue processes and provides improved internal controls and audit support, the use of spreadsheets can be completely eliminated.

SL Tip of the Month | |
Having printing issues with Dynamics SL and Remote Desktop? Here are some tips that can help:
- Make sure that the printer you want to use on your computer is set as your Windows Default Printer.
- Make sure the correct printer drivers are installed on the Remote Desktop server or Terminal Server. Check with your IT department to make sure. Windows Server 2008 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop services uses Remote Desktop Easy Print drivers (universal printer driver for printer redirection) by default but can be configured to use installed printer drivers if necessary.
- Remove the Microsoft XPS Document Writer from your Remote Desktop server. This "printer" can get in the way of printer redirection or be redirected instead of your actual printer and is installed by default with the Operating System.
- In Dynamics SL printer setup, select the option "Use Windows Default Printer."
- In some cases with HP 1000 and 2000 series printers the HP Universal Printer driver is needed on the local printer to resolve error messages when printing reports.

Connecting CRM with Your ERP | What if you could gain a precise, real-time, 360-degree view of your customers - from both a marketing perspective and from the vantage point of their financial transactions with your company? Well now you can with the Microsoft Dynamics Connector which seamlessly integrates Microsoft Dynamics CRM with your ERP solution such as Microsoft Dynamics SL. Typically in the past, the integration of both systems might have been complicated and cost prohibitive due to the extensive amount of customization often required to get the systems to work together properly. That's why Microsoft designed its new CRM-to-ERP "connector" - to offer companies the benefits of CRM-to-ERP integration at significantly lower cost. The connector's out-of-the-box interoperability with Microsoft's technologies eliminates the headaches (and expense) involved with having to trouble-shoot "connectivity" issues that often occur with custom integrations. Working with leading Microsoft Dynamics CRM partner, PowerObjects, together we have helped many of our clients in the non-profit, distribution and financial services industries integrate the solutions together. A new release of the Connector was just announced giving you a choice to integrate with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 on-premises or Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011. Contact us if you are interested in learning more or check out this video for more details. |
