GP Tip - Avoiding 1099 Errors and Correcting Amounts

The end of January is fast approaching and it's time to get your 1099's out.  As some of our clients review their vendors and payments at the end of the year, errors in the 1099 amounts can be discovered. When a vendor is used to pay for both services and reimbursable expenses, we sometimes forget to adjust the 1099 Amount field to remove the reimbursable expenses. In the example below, the 1099 Amount field should be changed to zero because the voucher is for reimbursable expenses.  If the amount is not changed before the voucher is posted, the 1099 amount will be too high.

Here's what you can do to correct 1099 amounts in Microsoft Dynamics GP:

  1. Perform an analysis to determine the correct amount of the adjustment
  2. Navigate to the 1099 Details window (Purchasing>Cards>1099 Amounts).  Select the vendor, Tax Type, month and year.
  3. Manually adjust the amount in the appropriate 1099 box Amount column.
  4. Select Save after the correction has been made.

Join Us for FRx Training Classes

Join us for two separate two-day FRx training classes in February.

For those of you that are wondering why we are offering FRx classes when Management Reporter (MR) has already been released, here's your answer. FRx still runs financial reports much more quickly than Management Reporter so we have not been upgrading clients from FRx to Management Reporter. MR has been out for over a year now on the GP platform and we expect this to improve soon.

Management Reporter is a mostly a platform change moving from Microsoft Access to Microsoft SQL Server.  The User Interface has been updated but for the most part, the products are the same.  What you learn about FRx, you can apply to your use of MR....and we won't upgrade you until the reports run faster than FRx.

Connecting CRM to Your ERP

What if you could gain a precise, real-time, 360-degree view of your customers - from both a marketing perspective and from the vantage point of their financial transactions with your company? Well now you can with the Microsoft Dynamics Connector which seamlessly integrates Microsoft Dynamics CRM with your ERP solution such as Microsoft Dynamics GP.

The CRM-to-ERP "connector" provides companies the benefits of CRM-to-ERP integration at a significantly lower cost. The connector's out-of-the-box interoperability with Microsoft's technologies eliminates the headaches (and expense) involved with having to trouble-shoot "connectivity" issues that often occur with custom integrations.

Working with leading Microsoft Dynamics CRM partner,

PowerObjects, together we have helped several of our clients in the non-profit, distribution and financial services industries integrate the solutions together. If you're interested in learning more about the Connector, this video is a great place to start.
