We've got some great things lined-up for you as well as a few changes to our schedule.  Before we tell you about them, please note the following bits of news and information:

 

Easter Weekend (Easter Weekend).  All classes are as regularly scheduled.  Carrie will be teaching the 9:00 am Flow class.

 

New Fusion Onesies (sizes 6 and 12 months) and Toddler tees (2T and 3T) have arrived!  Supplies are limited... get 'em before they're gone!  Don't forget, the new Mom & Baby II Crawlers with Maria starts Wednesday.

 

Missing your mat...?  We have a LOT of mats that have been left behind.  If you're missing yours, let us know!  Unclaimed yoga mats will be donated to a women's shelter on April 15.

Yin Yoga safely challenges us to open into both body and mind. Yin poses generally target the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine and are held for a short sustained period of time. The stillness takes practitioners deep into the postures, beyond the just the muscles and into the fabric of the body (connective tissue). Yin restores the flow of vital energy that runs through these tissues, while strengthening the joints and spine as well as calming and quieting the mind. Teaching A Practice of Surrender

In this unique 10-hour training course, Joe will help us to analyze, observe, and practice all of the elements of Yin Yoga in depth. With his guidance, we'll examine ourselves on a personal level with ancient meditation techniques that guide us into a steady awareness of the changing sensations in the postures. We'll study with slides of real bones and by articulating the joints on a plastic skeleton. But mostly we'll have an interactive, hands-on study and examine each other with anatomical range of motion (ROM) tests. The study culminates in a truer understanding of the infinite variety of human bodies (from the bones up), an understanding of why every posture should be modified to the individual, and the basic techniques to help guide each Yin Yoga student with their unique skeletal structures into the appropriate asana for them.  Read More >>

The ULTIMATE Yoga Workshop

This class includes an arrangement of soft and hard form yoga asanas, connected together with cool and hot Vinyasa (flow). You'll enjoy the challenge, achieve new poses, move with fluid power, and be treated to the latest in yoga adjustments. When finished, drift into a blissful deep relaxation followed by a guided meditation. 

 

Yin Yoga with Doug Swenson

2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Moving Into Light:

Recovering From Grief & Loss

with Bernadette Halbrook, Ph.D., RYT 

Sundays:   April 15, April 29, May 15   (1:30 - 3:30 pm) 

 

This three class series is designed for those who have been dealing with loss but are ready to take the next step towards healing. Together we will: 

  • explore normal physiological, psychological, and emotional responses to grief
  • investigate how pain and trauma get lodged in our bodies
  • examine the Buddhist philosophy of Mindfulness as a powerful tool for dealing with painful emotions
  • experience how the practices of meditation and pranayama (breath work) can ground us

  • discover why Yoga as a mind/body/spirit practice is particularly well suited for supporting us through difficult times. Special attention will be given to ways in which a physical yoga practice can be a powerful adjunct to the healing process.

Using Mindfulness & Yoga to Heal

Over the course of our lives, few of us will remain untouched by addiction. Whether it is a family member, a close friend, or our own personal struggle, addictions have the power to destroy families and ravage lives - regardless of the substance or behavior of abuse.  This workshop is designed for those who wish to learn more about the addictive process and how a practice of mindfulness meditation and yoga can ease the pain and suffering. These approaches are increasingly being used in treatment centers and clinics, and research indicates that they are effective for both the addicted individual and their loved ones.  Read more >>

Yin Yoga with Leslie

Thursdays 7:00 - 8:15 pm   (First Class is April 19)

  

Yin Yoga is a style of yoga that focuses on the passive holding of postures for longer periods of time (3 to 5 minutes). These longer holds benefit the connective tissues of the body such as ligaments, bones and joints. Longer holds also give the body and mind time to slow down and drop into stillness, cultivating a meditative component of practice. This class is a wonderful compliment to traditional yang (flow-based) yoga styles of practice. All levels are welcome.

 

Mom & Baby II Crawlers with Maria

Wednesdays  11:45 am -12:45 pm  (First class April 4)

 

Mom & Baby Yoga II Crawlers practice is designed specifically for the needs of a busy mom and mobile baby. We strengthen the entire body with emphasis on the core, pelvic floor, and posture integrating our babies into the practice. Space is created for babies to play and socialize while moms slow down and find their yoga flow. Learn to quiet the mind and find serenity as you get fit and gain confidence in your mothering through this integrative yoga practice. You'll also learn new songs, yoga for baby, and how to integrate a mobile baby into your yoga practice. *** BABY Smom & babyIGNS (sign language for baby) will additionally be introduced with new Signs shared each week.*** In each class we also take a moment to share our journeys with other moms in the spirit of support and community.  ALL BABIES CRAWLING to EARLY WALKING are welcome! ALL LEVELS & ABILITIES WELCOME (including First-Timers - both NEW and VETERAN Moms)

The perfect follow-up to our Intro to Yoga class -OR- for students currently just starting out (as well as those who are interested in reviewing the foundations of yoga).

Week 2:   Moving gracefully from pose-to-pose * Sun salutations * More breathing exercises * Understanding the different styles

Intro to Yoga *Weekly* Class

Sundays:  4:00-5:30 pm   (EVERY Sunday!)

 

Ideal for the ABSOLUTE beginner (first-timers), as well as for anyone who would like to review the basics.  This one-of-a-kind class is offered weekly as part of our on-going class schedule and will help you feel more confident in taking our regular on-going beginning level classes.  We'll cover what you need to know, understanding why and how we do it, and how to get started with your practice. Approximately 15-20 minutes is spent discussing the practice, while the remaining time is devoted to learning basic foundational postures while breathing properly.  After this class, you'll be ready to transition into our on-going beginning level classes (Yoga Basics) OR you might sign-up for our special 3-Week Beginner Series workshop (offered monthly).  Use your current class pass (Drop-in rate = $20)
