Grief & Loss: How Yoga Can Help
with Bernadette Halbrook, PhD, RYT
Sunday, March 18 (1:00-3:00 pm)
Loss is a natural and inevitable part of life. Yet the pain and sadness of losing a job, a dream that we have nurtured for a long time, our youthful energy, or a loved one can be so overwhelming that it sometimes seems that w e will never feel 'normal' again. This two hour educational workshop will focus on some of the losses that we all experience as we journey through life, and will focus on how the wisdom of yoga can assist us in finding our way. Lecture and discussion will be followed by a light asana practice designed to help us reflect, relax, breathe, and smile.
In this workshop, you'll learn how to...
- Tap into the body-mind connection and use poses to transfer your inner health and mood.
- Use breathing techniques to harness energy, calm and control private emotions.
- Cultivate the "Zen Mind" with affirmations and a positive mindset.

Yin Yoga with Special Guest
Instructor Joe Barnett
A Rejuvenating & Mindful 3 Hour Yoga Session
Friday, April 20 6:00 - 9:00 pm
Yin Yoga safely challenges us to open into both body and mind. Yin poses generally target the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine and are held for a short sustained period of time. The stillness takes practitioners deep into the postures, beyond the just the muscles and into the fabric of the body (connective tissue). Yin restores the flow of vital energy that runs through these tissues, while strengthening the joints and spine as well as calming and quieting the mind. Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga. Appropriate for students of all levels.

Teaching A Practice of Surrender
with Special Guest Instructor Joe Barnett
Saturday, April 21 11:00 am - 5:00 pm (break from 2:00-300 pm) -------- AND -------- Sunday, April 22 11:00 am - 5:00 pm (break from 2:00-300 pm)
In this unique 10-hour training course, Joe will help us to analyze, observe, and practice all of the elements of Yin Yoga in depth. With his guidance, we'll examine ourselves on a personal level with ancient meditation techniques that guide us into a steady awareness of the changing sensations in the postures. We'll study with slides of real bones and by articulating the joints on a plastic skeleton. But mostly we'll have an interactive, hands-on study and examine each other with anatomical range of motion (ROM) tests. The study culminates in a truer understanding of the infinite variety of human bodies (from the bones up), an understanding of why every posture should be modified to the individual, and the basic techniques to help guide each Yin Yoga student with their unique skeletal structures into the appropriate asana for them.
