Dear Friend of Fusion,
We have some new things for you that we are very excited about. A new class with Evelyn on Wednesday evenings ("Unwind") -- the initial class is being offered for FREE to introduce you to this class and Fusion's newest teacher! We are also beginning a Summer Kid's Yoga Series with Dominique which starts June 14th. This Friday evening and Saturday is Carrie's The Essence of Chakras Workshop. Sunday is Lori's exceptional Intro to Yoga Workshop... and comming soon is the Summer Detox (July) and our very first Women's Retreat (August). See below for more details.
We were ecstatic with the turn-out we had for the Blame Sally Concert (close to capacity with over 100 guests!) We feel so privledged that they brought their amazing talents to our studio. Their varied instrumental talents, incredible voices and wonderful lyrics blended into a magical evening. The band loved our space and thought the acoustics we're great as well. We're glad to know that the extra time and money spent to sound proof the rooms during the build-out paid off! We received several great email reviews the next day... here are just a few...
"Thank you for hosting Blame Sally at your studio. It was a phenomenal show!!! We have seen them several times now and we all agreed that this was the best we have heard them play. The energy last night really was perfect in every way. Thanks again for providing such a cool venue. Hope you can do it again some time. Sincerely, Sue"
"That was absolutely the BEST - I loved it!!!! Thank you for bringing the Sally(s) to Sac. I'll come and try some yoga with you soon. Joy"
"Thanks for hosting Blame Sally.... I go to their shows a lot and that was one of the better ones! Great audience and space and the Sallies had lots of fun! Janet"
"We had a great time! Thanks, Deirdre"
SPECIAL THANKS TO CARRIE MEYER for bringing Blame Sally to Fusion! Although you may have missed the show, we're pretty sure they'll be back... we can't wait!!! In the meantime, we're working to bring you another great local band (The Andrew Heringer Band) for your enjoyment in August (stay tuned!).
Namaste,

THIS WEEKEND!!!
Special Weekend Intensive
The Essence of the Chakras
with Carrie Meyer, MA, CCHT, RYT
Friday: June 4 (6:00 - 9:00 pm)
Saturday: June 5 (12:30 - 5:30 pm)
This rich, two-part workshop on the chakra system offers a rich compilation of information distilled from a wide range of sources historically rooted in the ancient traditions of Yoga and Tantra. Each of the seven main energy centers will be examined in detail with reference to energetic anatomy and corresponding physical, psychological, and transpersonal attributes. Our exploration of the chakra system will extend to subtle-body theory and will be augmented by yoga postures, breathwork, and meditation, all of which help to support or restore the healthy function of the chakras and the subtle-to-physical-body network. Participants will be provided with a packet detailing chakra information for easy reference and additional printed handouts.
Well suited for yoga teachers and students; individuals practicing, teaching, or studying holistic and other healing arts; psychologists, therapists, body workers, and anyone interested in a greater understanding and deeper experience of their own consciousness spectrum.
$125 for the eight-hour workshop. (Early-bird discount: Pay only $110 if pre-registered and paid in full by May 9, 2010.) Pre-registration with a $50 deposit or full payment is recommended due to limited space. Please arrive 15 minutes early on first day of workshop to check in. New Class Starts June 9th!
"UNWIND"
Restorative, Gentle/Slow Flow with Evelyn Harlan
Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:15 pm
To introduce you to this NEW CLASS and our newest teacher,
the first class on JUNE 9th is FREE ! !
Wound too tight...? It's time to align and UNWIND! To help students relax and renew, this class focuses on slowing down the practice, going deeper, while experiencing the restorative nature of the postures. The use of props, "wall work," yin postures (long, supported holds), Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation), pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, and occasionally, gentle slow flow are oftentimes incorporated into the practice. Soothe your nervous system, quiet your mind, release deeply held tension, as you move towards a state of balance.
Ideal for times when you feel depleted or want a "lighter" practice (a great way to end the day!), as well as for those wanting a contemplative practice. All levels and abilities are welcome.
Please note that this is NOT a traditional "Flow" class, although gentle, slow flowing sequences may be incorporated into the practice on occasion. |

Special Summer Series
YOGA FOR KIDS
JUNE 14, 21, & 28
Mondays - 9:30 to 10:45 am
This special kid's class runs alongside our adult class
at 9:30 am... so you can BOTH do yoga !
What's the coolest way to chill-out this summer, stay in shape, get strong, gain flexibility, and learn healthy ways to relax...? YOGA!
Yoga offers a positive avenue for self-discovery in mind, body and spirit. Practicing yoga is a great way to reduce stress, balance hormonal changes, learn conscious communications and how to deal peacefully with life changes, while building discipline in an atmosphere of self-discovery and fun! Yoga also helps reduce sports injuries and creates concentration, clarity, and focus for studies and other activities. With all of the demands imposed upon teens, the physical movement and the meditation inherent in the practice of Yoga can supply a means of relieving and controlling stress and develop a positive body-conscious awareness.
This special series of classes is designed for students ages 8 and older. No previous yoga experience necessary. Children must be picked-up immediately after class.
Advanced Registration = $30 (for three classes)
If space permits, drop-ins welcome ($15 per child, per class)

Summer Detox Flow
Saturday, July 31: 9:00 - 11:00 am
Lori Moore leads this special two-hour yoga intensive which starts with a Power/Vinyasa Flow practice to warm the body... we'll move into twisting poses to cleanse and purify the organs... finishing with restorative poses to relax the body and stretch the organs. This combination is specifically designed to stimulate and purify the internal organs, increase respiration and circulation, improve digestion, and is an effective way to detoxify and renew the body. In addition to detoxifying our bodies through a Vinyasa practice, we'll work to cleanse our mind, heart, and spirit through the use of meditation and reflection. (This class is appropriate for those who have been practicing consistently for six months or longer, as well as intermediate and advanced students.)
Advanced Reservation $25 on-line ($30 at door)
Space is limited - register early to reserve your spot!

Other Things...
New Service at Fusion! Bars with Myrna
This work is based on the idea that we are limited only by our beliefs, most of which are unconscious. As we go through life (or multiple lifetimes) we accumulate conclusions about life and ourselves that then act as mental filters on our experience, bringing us validation of our conclusions over and over. A Bars session is an hour of touch to the head that acts as a mental rebooting; it allows de-polarization of held conclusions, which forms lines of force in the brain. The result is deep relaxation and subtle or large changes in your life. Try the introductory session, and see what works for you!
Myrna, trained in counseling and aware of how deep and subtle the effects of Bars can be, is offering a range of options: Initial Intro Hour = $20; 35 Minutes $35, 60 Minutes $90.
"Talking Bars" Packages: This is a 90 minute session of connection and intention-setting prior to Bars and discussion of experience and further intentions after. Single session =$105; 3 session package ($85 x 3) = $255.
To make a Bars appointment with Myrna or for more information, please contact psyspir8@gmail.com.

Our needs can be different each time we step onto our mats. At FUSION, we believe that it's important to consider how we're showing up on any given day and decide what's best for us.
We recognize that some days our bodies crave a "work-out," making them stronger, more flexible, or to detoxify them in some way... and other times it's more appropriate and advanced to turn inward or "work-in," as it's our hearts and minds that need nurturing, restoring, expansiveness, space. As we explore our interior landscape, our practice might reveal that sometimes doing less, is often times doing more.
We offer traditional Hatha yoga classes that are geared toward developing a deeper understanding of the postures along with techniques used to "focus" our minds while we practice our yoga. These classes are labeled as "Focus" classes and provide specific alignment instructions and guidance as you learn how to stream-line and fine-tune your thoughts and concentration skills. We also offer "Flow" (or "Power Flow") classes where we transition with strength and grace from pose to pose, generating internal heat - although there are oftentimes elements of both Focus and Flow in most classes. (For those that like to push the envelope, try "Fusion Flow (+)" -- although we also offer "Easy Stretch" for those that are needing a therapeutic approach to the practice.) One of the tools FUSION uses to add a physical and mental edge to the practice, is heat. Therefore, our class temperatures range from 74 to 84 degrees. (If practicing in a warmed room isn't appropriate for your particular health condition, please contact FrontDesk@FusionYogaSac.com for guidance in selecting a class that would be best suited for your needs.)
As our practice begins to mature and ripen, we learn how to take our practice off our mat and into our daily lives... that the same coping skills and tools we learn on the mat when we're in a challenging or stressful position, can likewise be applied to our interactions with others as we ultimately work to develop a better understanding of ourselves. Although one path might be considered "traditional" in nature, and the other a more contemporary approach (flow classes infused with heat), they both take us on the same journey and arrive at the same destination. Both ways of practicing can provide equal benefits, that is, to restore our body, mind, hearts, and spirit, while diving deep within.
Take a moment to pause... Close your eyes... breathe deep and l o n g....
Be still... be quiet....
Feel your hard edges.... Feel your tender places. How do YOU feel today....?
May the path you choose lead you home.... |
