Special Concert Event!
BLAME SALLY
Saturday, May 22 at 8:00 pm
(doors open at 7:30)

A unique collective of four distinct voices and musical backgrounds, Blame Sally has forged a compelling and original sound that has earned the band the well-deserved reputation as Bay Area phenomenon. The San Francisco Chronicle raved that Blame Sally's music recall(s) the artful romanticism of Jane Siberry, the rich folk harmonies of the Indigo Girls, and the percolating soulfulness of Joy of Cooking. Poised for greater national attention, they've performed for audiences across the US, sharing festival stages with the likes of Los Lobos, Ani DiFranco, Richard Thompson, Roseanne Cash and Greg Brown.

Learn the Fundamentals of Vinyasa FLOW
The Art of Flow
with Lori Moore
Saturday, May 22 nd * 9:00 am - 11:00 am
The basic definition of Vinyasa is a flowing sequence of postures synchronized by the breath (the way that we transition from pose to pose gracefully). In this two hour intensive workshop, continuing beginners are introduced to the fundamentals of "flow" or Vinyasa Yoga. Most participants will build confidence to move into more challenging classes while working safely at their personal level. Some of the concepts we'll cover in this workshop include...
· Synchronizing breath with movement
· Proper form and alignment - caring for the back and knees
· Shoulder position for Plank and Chaturanga
· Introduction to Up Dog
· Rolling the feet
· Making smooth transitions - making your practice flow
· The Warrior I in you!
· The art of jumping and landing lightly
· Importance of core strength
· Low Flow &Turbo Flow options... kickin' it up or takin' it down
Modifications will be offered for specific injuries or abilities. This class is designed for continuing beginners who are interested in taking their practice to the next level as well as for those with more experience who want to refine and align their flow practice. $25 in advance, $30 at the door (space permitting).

PLEASE NOTE: The 9:30 Flow & 11:00 Core Class with Wendy is CANCELLED THIS DAY. Join Carrie at 8:30 am for Focus + Flow.

Special Weekend Intensive
The Essence of the Chakras
with Carrie Meyer, MA, CCHT, RYT
Friday: June 4 (6:00 - 9:00 pm)
Saturday: June 5 (12:30 - 5:30 pm)
This rich, two-part workshop on the chakra system offers a rich compilation of information distilled from a wide range of sources historically rooted in the ancient traditions of Yoga and Tantra. Each of the seven main energy centers will be examined in detail with reference to energetic anatomy and corresponding physical, psychological, and transpersonal attributes. Our exploration of the chakra system will extend to subtle-body theory and will be augmented by yoga postures, breathwork, and meditation, all of which help to support or restore the healthy function of the chakras and the subtle-to-physical-body network. Participants will be provided with a packet detailing chakra information for easy reference and additional printed handouts.
Well suited for yoga teachers and students; individuals practicing, teaching, or studying holistic and other healing arts; psychologists, therapists, body workers, and anyone interested in a greater understanding and deeper experience of their own consciousness spectrum.
$125 for the eight-hour workshop. (Early-bird discount: Pay only $110 if pre-registered and paid in full by May 9, 2010.) Pre-registration with a $50 deposit or full payment is recommended due to limited space. Please arrive 15 minutes early on first day of workshop to check in. Contact Carrie at (916) 705-0511 or carriejmeyer@hotmail.com for more information

Healthy First-Time Students welcome as well as any student that wants to gain a better understanding of the postures and the practice, including experienced students that want a lighter practice. Mild injuries are okay as modifications are offered for most conditions.

Our needs can be different each time we step onto our mats. At FUSION, we believe that it's important to consider how we're showing up on any given day and decide what's best for us.
We recognize that some days our bodies crave a "work-out," making them stronger, more flexible, or to detoxify them in some way... and other times it's more appropriate and advanced to turn inward or "work-in," as it's our hearts and minds that need nurturing, restoring, expansiveness, space. As we explore our interior landscape, our practice might reveal that sometimes doing less, is often times doing more.
We offer traditional Hatha yoga classes that are geared toward developing a deeper understanding of the postures along with techniques used to "focus" our minds while we practice our yoga. These classes are labeled as "Focus" classes and provide specific alignment instructions and guidance as you learn how to stream-line and fine-tune your thoughts and concentration skills. We also offer "Flow" (or "Power Flow") classes where we transition with strength and grace from pose to pose, generating internal heat - although there are oftentimes elements of both Focus and Flow in most classes. (For those that like to push the envelope, we also offer "Beyond Flow" for our advanced students - as well as "Easy Stretch" for those that are needing a therapeutic approach to the practice.) One of the tools FUSION uses to add a physical and mental edge to the practice, is heat. Therefore, our class temperatures range from 74 to 84 degrees. (If practicing in a warmed room isn't appropriate for your particular health condition, please contact FrontDesk@FusionYogaSac.com for guidance in selecting a class that would be best suited for your needs.)
As our practice begins to mature and ripen, we learn how to take our practice off our mat and into our daily lives... that the same coping skills and tools we learn on the mat when we're in a challenging or stressful position, can likewise be applied to our interactions with others as we ultimately work to develop a better understanding of ourselves. Although one path might be considered "traditional" in nature, and the other a more contemporary approach (flow classes infused with heat), they both take us on the same journey and arrive at the same destination. Both ways of practicing can provide equal benefits, that is, to restore our body, mind, hearts, and spirit, while diving deep within.
Take a moment to pause... Close your eyes... breathe deep and l o n g....
Be still... be quiet....
Feel your hard edges.... Feel your tender places. How do YOU feel today....?
May the path you choose lead you home.... | |
