Pearl S. Buck and Impact Thrift Repurpose for the Past
When the Pearl S. Buck House set out to renovate and prepare for a new exhibit, they called Impact Thrift Stores. Over the past few months, it has been our privilege to help them find period furnishings for two rooms that are now part of the new exhibit called "Personal Pearl". This exhibit displays the authors' personal belongings documented with photographs from her life and family. Thrifting with a (re)Purpose
Before: All the plates and candle holders. |
Consider another way to celebrate local history by repurposing something that's been around the block but still has a lot of life left in it! This month, we decided to get creative and try one of the many repurposing ideas that come our way. Here's what we did with some plates, candlesticks, and some super strong glue! It's perfect for a birthday party. Stack it to make a cupcake tower, or make one as a gift for a friend! The possibilities are endless...check out a tutorial here. Like this idea? Send us a picture of your plate creation! Email Impact.
After: Here are the pieces we put together for an original cupcake or dessert stand. | |

Celebrating Montgomery County Centenarians
This May, Montgomery County Aging and Adult Services will be hosting the first annual Centenarian Celebration as a way to
take part in Older Americans Month. Impact Thrift is very involved in serving the senior community and so we are excited to be one of the sponsors for this event! Since 1963, May has been a time to reflect upon the contributions and accomplishments of the older Americans among us. This event will be held May 21st from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. for all the centenarians in Montgomery County. If you know of someone who is of age and not attending, please encourage them to sign up. Volunteers are welcome as well! Contact Lynn-Marie at landerson@npvna.org for information. To learn more about Older American's Month, click here. |

Charity Spotlight: The North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club is a meaningful organization that enriches our community in many ways. As one of the charities that Impact Thrift supports, we have been impressed with their ability to enable young people in disadvantaged situations to reach their potential as caring, responsible citizens. This month, the Boys and Girls club is continuing their push for summer camp registration as well as celebrating their supporters through their fundraiser banquets. If you are interested in learning more click here and please continue to support the North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club.
