Make May a Celebration of Local History!
Pearl S. Buck and Impact Thrift Repurpose for the Past

psbhouseWhen the Pearl S. Buck House set out to renovate and prepare for a new exhibit, they called Impact Thrift Stores. Over the past few months, it has been our privilege to help them find period furnishings for two rooms that are now part of the new exhibit called "Personal Pearl". This exhibit displays the authors' personal belongings documented with photographs from her life and family. Click here for information on visiting this historic home of the first American woman to receive the Pulitzer and Nobel prizes for literature. Her 68- acre Bucks county estate is a great place for the whole family to learn a lot about local history. Check it out today!

Before: All the plates and candle holders.

Consider another way to celebrate local history by repurposing something that's been around the block but still has a lot of life left in it! This month, we decided to get creative and try one of the many repurposing ideas that come our way. Here's what we did with some plates, candlesticks, and some super strong glue! It's perfect for a birthday party. Stack it to make a cupcake tower, or make one as a gift for a friend! The possibilities are endless...check out a tutorial here. Like this idea? Send us a picture of your plate creation! Email Impact.

After: Here are the pieces we put together for an original cupcake or dessert stand.
