Lipstick That's Good for Us
Greetings!
MCRH is pleased to announce a grant of $150,000 from the MAC Cosmetics AIDS Fund, through its new VIVA GLAM campaign From Our Lips, to support integration of HIV and reproductive health services in Memphis.
Our project will provide training and networking opportunities to local reproductive health and HIV/AIDS service providers, and will allow us to provide free rapid HIV testing and education to over 3,000 women in our clinic this year.
From Our Lips supports programs in regions around the world that are confronting the complicated causes of HIV infection in women and girls: violence, discrimination and unequal access to financial and social resources. Many women in Memphis face these very challenges.
To date, sales of MAC's VIVA GLAM Lipsticks have raised over $160 Million to fight HIV/AIDS. Read more about the ways our local project will help women in Memphis.
And go buy a VIVA GLAM Lipstick (or two) at Macy's today!
As always, thanks so much for your support.
 ,
Rebecca L. Terrell

Love Yourself in March, Too!
Our February "Love Yourself" promotions were so successful that all appointments slots were filled! What could we do but continue these special offers through March.
For example, if you have a Well Woman Check Up at MCRH this month you'll receive a coupon good for a FREE check up to give to someone you love.
Women's exams include PAP smear, birth control consultation and prescription, breast exam, STD testing & treatment, and whole health evaluation. Men's exams include STD testing & treatment, and HIV testing.
We all deserve to get and stay healthy. Give the gift of good reproductive health to your mother, daughter, sister, friend, partner, boyfriend, or husband -- anyone you love.

| Can't Talk to Your Kids About S-E-X?
You're not alone...
Kids and teens need accurate, comprehensive information in order to protect their reproductive health and futures.
Studies show that children trust their parents most to give them accurate information about sex, but a new report from the Guttmacher Institute finds that many parents feel uncomfortable talking to their children about sex. They say they often think someone else could do it better, or believe it might actually encourage their kids to have sex.
What can help? The report recommends programs that support parents in opening the lines of communication with their children, talking to them about sexuality throughout childhood and assessing what topics are appropriate at different ages.
If you are a Memphis parent who wants to "have the talk," or better yet, open up a life-long dialogue with your kids about these issues, give us a call. We are developing a new program called The Real Deal to help and encourage parents to communicate reproductive health information to their children, along with their own values on these issues.
We are also looking for parents to serve as volunteer advisors and program designers. Call us at 901.274.3550, ext. 16, for more information or to learn how you can get involved. |

40 Days of Prayer
Thanks to Faith Aloud in St. Louis for sharing their powerful project "40 Days of Prayer to Keep Abortion Safe & Legal." Some examples:
Day 1: Today we pray for women for whom pregnancy is not good news, that they know they have choices.
Day 2: Today we pray for compassionate religious voices to speak out for the dignity and autonomy of women.
Day 10: Today we pray for women who were joyfully expecting a child, but have learned that the pregnancy is not sustainable.
