Back Up Your Birth Control
EC, or Emergency Contraception, is a hormonal method of preventing pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse. EC pills are often called "morning after pills" but can be taken up to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse, although EC is most effective when taken within 24 hours of unprotected intercourse.
Sometimes condoms break, or intercourse happened but was not planned for, or some one forced you to have sex when you didn't want to. It is a great idea to keep EC in your medicine cabinet for unexpected circumstances.
EC acts to prevent pregnancy and is not an "abortion pill." EC is not effective if a woman is already pregnant. The hormones in EC can delay or prevent ovulation, or interfere with fertilization or implantation. Neither a pelvic examination nor a pregnancy test is required before treatment.
Stop by MCRH at 1462 Poplar Ave. any Monday during the month of February (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) to get your free pack of EC($40 value!) while supplies last. | |

Drop in for Free Condoms
Research shows that consistent and correct condom use greatly reduces the risk of contracting HIV, chlamydia, syphillis and gonorrhea. Data also shows that young women whose male partners regularly use condoms are at significantly lower risk of acquiring HPV which can cause cervical cancer.
Planning ahead is key to consistent and effective condom use. If you are sexually active, and/or have adolescents in the house, it's smart to keep condoms on hand and available.
Stop by MCRH at 1462 Poplar Ave. during the month of February for free condoms (Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.) Offer good while supplies last. |

Need Some Support Talking to Your Kids About S-E-X?
Kids and teens want and need accurate, comprehensive information in order to protect their reproductive health and futures.
If you are a parent who wants to "have the talk," or better yet, wants to open up a life-long dialogue with your kids about these issues, we can help.
The Real Deal is a volunteer program to help and encourage parents to communicate health information and their own values on these issues.
We are looking for parents to serve as volunteer advisors and program designers!
Call us at 901.274.3550, ext. 16, for more information.
