Do vegetables scare you? Are you interested in incorporating more vegetables and grains in your diet, but don't know where to start? After the wonderful treats and special foods of the holidays, many people set their goals on healthy eating for the New Year.

During the month of January, we will be displaying an array of Vegetarian and Vegan cookbooks to help inspire you to add a vegetarian or vegan meal into your meal planning rotation. With cuisine from India, Mexico, Japan and all around the world, not to mention comfort recipes with roots from right here in the US, you're sure to find something that appeals to you and your family.

Because so many of us love to get actual recommendations for successful recipes that others have tried, we will also have a box at the library where you can share a Vegetarian or Vegan recipe with us. Submitted recipes will be posted on our website. Make sure to tell us in the notes section why you or your family loves the recipe. On January 27th we will pick one recipe at random and the individual selected will win a $25 gift certificate to Lull Farms

What Endures: A Three Part Discussion Series

mountains
Wednesday, 1/18
Tuesday, 1/31
Wednesday 2/15
7:00-8:30 PM
Feats of extreme physical endurance, technical challenge, and athletic skill make the news. Those who scale the highest mountains sail the uncharted seas, and dive unfathomable depths are the stuff of legend and bestsellers. But what about those whose marathons are hidden in hospital corridors or ordinary suburban living rooms, who climb their Everests unnoticed? Perhaps you have known people who swim upstream through impossible illness, or who daily walk some wild unmapped path with their families. What keeps their spirits alive?

Come together and read a rich mix of poems, stories, and essays, and explore what endures in all its many meanings in our lives. All reading materials will be supplied by the library. You are welcome to join us for any or all of the series discussions. Registration is REQUIRED due to space limitations. For more information or to register, click here.

Remember, the library is a happening place and your library card is your ticket to free books, magazines, music, movies, Internet access, enriching programs and much more!

Sincerely,

Amherst Town Library
