The Amherst July 4th celebration is scheduled to begin the evening of July 3rd, with the parade to follow on the 4th, as always. The theme for the 2011 parade is "Traditions in Amherst". Click here for the schedule of celebrations.

The Library will be closed for the holiday weekend: Saturday, July 2 thorugh Monday, July 4. The library will reopen at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, July 5.

Print/Stencil/Paint: An introduction to textile artand basic printmaking techniques

Register now! 

Wednesday, July 6 from 3-5 PM  

 
Learn all about the exciting work of textile art and printmaking! You will be introduced to several different techniques that you will then be able to experiment with to create a final work of art!

Basic materials will be provided, however we ask that you bring at least 20 magazine clipping or laserjet printouts of images that you like. The more the better! You may also bring your own fabric to work on.  

 

Wii Competion

"Bring your game" to the library this summer! We will provide the large screen, the equipment, the Wii games and the snacks---you bring your skills and your spirit. We'll form up teams, and have a friendly competition.

An Evening with International Motorcycle

Traveler Ben SlavinBen Slavin

In October 2009, Ben Slavin left his home in Hooksett, NH in search of adventure.  Over the course of 6 months he rode his motorcycle 23,000 miles through 15 countries until he reached the southernmost city in the world--Ushuaia, Argentina.  He documented the journey on his blog.  Ben recently returned home from another 6 week ride south of the border, where he was filming an educational and inspirational how-to-guide for motorcycling in Mexico.  Join Ben as he shares photos and stories from his amazing ride!  Register here.

Whoopee! It's Wednesday- Family Event Series 

Come to the Children's Room at 10:30 AM on Wednesdays for a fun-filled performance.  No registration is necessary. 

July 6- Peterborough Players 

A dramatic reading from their summer production of Stuart Little by members of the cast.  If you like it, you can travel to Peterborough to see the entire play! Recommended for children ages 4 and up.

July 13- Odds Bodkin 

Award winning master storyteller and musician, Odds Bodkins will share his stories and talents in an audience participation program full of great stories and adventures.  Recommended for the slightly older child of 5 and up.  A remarkable and entertaining performer.
