Greetings!
The library will be CLOSED on Sunday, April 24 for the Easter Holiday. |
One Card, Many Libraries
Did you know that your Amherst Town Library card can be used at many other local area libraries? Your library card privileges allow you to borrow from nine other public libraries:
Bedford Derry Goffstown Hooksett Manchester Manchester West Side Community Library Merrimack Milford (Wadleigh Library) Salem (Kelley Library) and two academic libraries:
Danforth Library at New England College Teti Library at New Hampshire Institute of Art While you can easily request items from these libraries through our common catalog, if you feel like exploring a new library and browsing the stacks in another town, you are more than welcome. Think of it as belonging to a 12-branch library system!
To use your card at other libraries outside of Amherst, be sure that your library card is in good standing (i.e. the card has not expired, all lost book fines have been paid and/or there are no large fines still needing to be paid). Materials from consortium libraries can be returned to any member library, saving you another drive. While you can not borrow museum passes from other libraries, we are sure you'll find that each library offers wonderful collections.
To learn more about each library, its hours, location and lending policies, go online to www.gmilcs.org/services.asp. So for those of you who love libraries (and who doesn't???), your Amherst Town Library card is a mini-passport to explore the southern New Hampshire library scene! Enjoy!

Seeking Sponsors for the Summer Reading Program: June 27- August 18
The hours that Amherst children spend reading this summer will not only earn them fun prizes and raffle tickets- they'll also be earning money from our sponsors to support the work of Heifer Project International all over the world .
Heifer International is a global nonprofit with a proven solution to ending hunger and poverty in a sustainable way.
Through gifts of livestock, seeds and trees and extensive training, Heifer helps empower millions of families economically by providing a multiplying source of food and income. This summer, we are hoping to earn enough to provide bees, chickens, sheep and goats to deserving families around the world.
Interested businesses, organizations and families can pledge to support our readers. Read more about this project here or contact Sarah Hydorn, Head of Children's Services.
