lilac
We are pleased to welcome back Library Assistants, Carole Gasch and Sue Ruggiero. Both had been out of the library on extended leave and we are grateful to have them back!

Greetings!

Thank you to all of our friends who supported the library throughout this budget season. Your participation at the town Deliberative Session and your votes on March 8 show how this library is valued by the community. Thank you!

March is Irish-American Heritage Month
Minding Frankie

March is Irish-American Heritage Month, so it is no surprise that Irish author Maeve Binchy's latest book, Minding Frankie, just arrived at the library. Fans of Binchy will welcome the return of some familiar faces in this story of a Dublin neighborhood banding together to help a young single father raise his daughter. It's an enjoyable novel about life, love, and second chances.

Another new title on the shelf is Kevin O'Hara's Lucky Irish Lad. You may remember O'Hara from his visit to the library last March discussing his travels in Ireland and his book, the Last of LuckyIrishLadthe Donkey Pilgrims. In his new memoir, O' Hara recounts his boyhood growing up in Massachusetts in the 1950s and 60s. Unlike Frank McCourt and Joe Queenan, O'Hara recounts his experience as the fourth of eight children of Irish immigrants with great affection.

Ty Burr, Boston Globe Film Critic, Presents 'Does Film Have a Future?'

What's the future of the movies?  Do movies even *have* a future in a world of instant Netflix downloads and homemade YouTube uploads?  When computers can create a new and improved 3D reality, will anyone want to pay for regular reality?  And why can't they make anything I actually want to see?  Ty Burr will discuss these and other questions and address the pleasures and perils of moviegoing in the 21st century--what to watch, what to avoid, and what's coming down the media turnpike. Wednesday March 23 @ 7PM. Register now.
