Greetings!
As we clean up from yet another snowstorm, it's refreshing to look forward to March. For those who aren't traveling someplace warm during school vacation week, we invite you to visit the Children's Room for a vacation celebration in the tropics. Adults can also look forward to a new series of programs in March entitled Time Travel: Back to the Future. |
It's Time to PAWS-for-READING!
Belle, a beautiful mixed-breed dog, is going to be visiting the Children's Room on two different dates in March. Belle just loves to listen to stories, and is hoping that some of you will come and read to her!
Her person, Nancy, is a retired special-ed teacher and a grandmother, who adopted Belle 6 years ago, and has helped her to earn her Canine Good Citizen certification and R.E.A.D. training. She will be bringing Belle to visit on Wednesday, March 16 from 3:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon. They will return on Saturday, March 19, from 10:30 to 11:30 in the morning. "Team Belle" will also visit in April, May and June.
To sign up to read to Belle, or for more information, please call us at 673-2288 or visit our online calendar.

The 2012 Fraud
Misreading the Maya and Their Calendars
Tuesday, March 8 @ 7PM
How many Ends of the World have you lived in so far? Explore the history of the Apocalypse - mankind's second oldest story - along with what the Maya Calendars are and how they work. Then, take a look at what the frauds and fearmongers say and "debunk" them yourselves. R.P. Hale, of Aztec heritage himself, presents a fully illustrated and participatory program with a surprising conclusion.
The Amherst Town Library is grateful to the New Hampshire Humanities Council for providing funding for this program. Register for this event >> |
