|  | The Library is teaming up with the Amherst PTA to host old-fashioned children's games during the Amherst 250th Heritage Celebration on the Town Green, Saturday, September 25th from 9-3. Volunteers are needed to help oversee with games of hopscotch, marbles, sack races and more. No need to play the game~ just oversee them. What a fun way to share the town's history with the kids of Amherst! Sign up for a two hour shift by emailing Miss Sue.

September is Library Card
Sign-up Month. If you have a new neighbor, co-worker, or a student starting school, please encourage him or her to stop by the library to register for a card. Library
cards are available to anyone living, working or owning property in Amherst. Every new cardholder will receive a free "I got carded at the ATL" book bag throughout the month of September!

Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale Saturday, September 18 from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
 It's time to stock up on your reading and support the library at the same time. Each year the Friends of the Library organize over 15,000 books into genres making it easy to find what you are looking for. The selection is fabulous...you'll be glad you came! Most books are priced at $1 or less! The book sale is held in the community room of the Amherst Congregational Church from 8:30 - 3:00. Friends of the Library members are granted "early bird" entrance at 8:00 AM. Membership forms are available at the door.
Proceeds from the Friends of the Amherst Town Library book sale go to support children and adult programming, museum passes, the Student Art Show, an annual gift to the library, and many special programs.

Outer Landscape/Inner Likeness
The Canadian writer Margaret Atwood has said, "No one knows what causes an outer landscape to become an inner one." Join us for an inspiring, thought provoking four part series that will explore the difference between the environment that nature offers us and the settings we create for ourselves. Retired Souhegan High School teacher Nancy Baker will leads this series, drawing on literature, philosophy, mythology, music and art to look deeper at the ways landscape shapes us.
