Check Out a Kill-A-Watt™ Meter and Start Saving
See which appliances are costing you the most! The library now has four Kill-A-Watt™ Meters available for checkout. Simply plug the energy monitor into a wall outlet, then connect any 120-volt device (i.e. television, computer, refrigerator) to see how much energy it uses over a
period of time. Each monitor comes with an instruction sheet, tips on how to save energy, and a worksheet to calculate the energy costs associated with each device in your home. The monitors are made possible through a joint
project of the utility companies of NH and the NH State Library as part of the statewide "Cut the Carbon" program. Read more about how the program got started here. |
Exploring the Themes of Winter & Love A new four part series for adults, Inexpressible Tenderness and Fragile Delicacy: Exploring the Themes of Winter
and Love, will be offered on Wednesday afternoons in January and February.
Presented by Nancy Baker, this program uses a similar approach as the
interdisciplinary course, Myth and Idea, Nancy taught for many years
at Souhegan High School. It uses an essential question to link ideas
about and expressions of a universal theme.
The format is interactive,
being both informative and a sharing of ideas about art, philosophy,
literature, mythology and classical music. No previous study of any of
the disciplines or specific works is expected, and all in-class and
follow-up materials are provided.
Attend any or all
of the sessions: January 20, January 27, February 10, February 17 from 1:00-2:30 PM. Please register by calling 673-2288 or on the library calendar of events. |
