'Tis the Season for Giving Thanks

Make an Impact this Holiday Season

Gifts of Grain Now that the harvest season is wrapping up, and the holiday season is here, consider giving a gift of grain to support 4-H in Iowa. A donation of grain is an easy way for Iowa farm families to show their support for the Iowa 4-H Program and help make sure 4-H will continue for many generations to come. Giving grain instead of cash helps decrease self-employment taxes, federal income taxes, and state income taxes for the generous farmer.

How to give your grain to 4-H:
1. Deliver the grain to your local elevator or co-op.
2. Transfer the grain to the Iowa 4-H Foundation.
3. Ask for a warehouse receipt showing the Iowa 4-H Foundation as the owner.
4. Contact the Iowa 4-H Foundation (515-294-1537 or and tell them where the grain is stored. The Foundation will order the sale of the grain with the original sales invoice.
5. Tell others how easy it is to donate grain and make an impact for 4-H!

Iowa 4-H, History in the Making
Old Camp Photo  In 2012, The Iowa 4-H Program will celebrate 110 years of existence. To recognize this milestone, a blog of Iowa 4-H history has been started on the Iowa 4-H Foundation website. The histories are county specific, and are being released in intervals. Current posts include Cerro Gordo, Clay, Howard, Johnson, Keokuk, Page and Webster counties.
Visit the Iowa 4-H History page, and leave comments capturing your 4-H story as well.
If you have historical 4-H stories, or would like to help compile and review county histories, please contact Florine Swanson.
