To The Grand Hotel And Beyond

Just in time for spring, cyclists, joggers and walkers can now enjoy the final lap of the Point Clear trail. Work was completed in February on the portion of the trail following Scenic Highway 98 from the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club and Spa south to County Road 32. The path was originally scheduled for completion last fall but heavy rains and drainage issues slowed progress. As the last link in the trail, The Trailblazers hope to build a bridge crossing the creek on the East side of Scenic 98 that will connect the Jill Hall trail to the newly opened section. To see other portions of the Eastern Shore Trail and proposed trails visit www.thetrailblazers.org.

Volunteers Needed For Grandman Triathlon

Grandman Logo
Can you help set up a racecourse, man a water station or direct traffic? The Trailblazers are looking for a few good volunteers to help staff the Springhill Medical Center Grandman Triathlon, Saturday, June 5.

The 11th annual event begins with a 1/3-mile swim in picturesque Mobile Bay beside the Fairhope Municipal Pier. After the swim comes a 16.4-mile bike ride beginning with a steep hill and five miles of rolling Baldwin County countryside. The race finishes with a 3.1 mile run through the streets of Fairhope and along the Bay. The Trailblazers' share of the registration fees will help build new trails in Baldwin County.

Help is needed from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m. To volunteer call Terry Redfearn at 626-6116 or visit
www.thegrandman.com.

Picturing The Eastern Shore Trail

Along the Trail in Daphne, Al

We'd like to build our archives and the photo gallery on our Web site, but we can't do it without you. Send us your photos featuring walkers, bikers, joggers and hikers on the Eastern Shore trail.  We'll post them and you'll get a kick out of knowing other folks can see how much fun it is to use the trail. E-mail your digital images to a.hinrichs@mchsi.com. Please include the names of any individuals in the photo and a brief description of your location on the trail.
We had a great 2009 and we are looking forward to an even better 2010! Through your and our combined personal giving we have been able to build pedestrian pathways throughout Baldwin County.  Still there is much left to do.  Help us blaze new trails in Baldwin County.
