Storybook Project
2011 Synod Assembly In-Kind Offering
The Storybook Project of the Prisoner & Family Ministry program (sponsored by Lutheran Social Services of IL) helps parents who are incarcerated, remain connected to their children. Volunteers record parents reading books, the books and recordings are then sent to the child. Supplies collected will be used by volunteers and participants at the Dixon, IL Correction Center.
Items we are collecting:
· New paperback books for children 0 to 15 yrs old.
· Blank CD's (CD-R)
· Mailing envelopes in several sizes (6.5 x 9.5; 7.5 x 10.5; 9 x 12)
· Plastic or paper sleeves for CDs
All items must be dropped off in the Welcome Ctr by June 12, 2011. |

There is still time to get your kids registered for a fantastic adventure in The Big Apple, our VBS experience this summer, June 20-24. There are two sessions, morning and afternoon for Preschoolers through 6th Graders. And be sure to watch for all sorts of VBS "stuff" available in the Welcome Center to purchase as well as opportunities to provide help by donating materials we still need! Summer JAM(Jesus and Me)
for incoming 6th-8th Grade
This summer we are going to be following the movie Soul Surfer, the story of Bethany Hamilton. Her story is all about trusting God to get back in the water and live life the way he planned for her. Summer Jam, on Wednesday nights in the Annex at LOC from 7-9pm is a great place to grow in faith and make some new friendships. Come check it out!

Date Night at the Green Room

Green Room's Unscripted Improv show takes true life stories and audience suggestions and turns them into hilarious theater pieces right before your eyes! Starting the Journey - June 8, 6-9pm
We have streamlined Starting the Journey membership class for people who have attended Light of Christ a long time or have recently returned. You'll have an opportunity to understand where Light of Christ is today, where we are going, connect in ministry and meet others on the "Journey." Car Wash During Worship - June 4 & 5
On June 4 & 5 we are having a car wash during worship to help support our youth going on the mission trip this summer. This is a new approach and hopefully one you'll love. Imagine, walking out of worship and stepping into a nice clean shiny car. This is an great way to support our youth!
