PADS SleepOver
Summit students along with other teens from the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee partnered together to raise $1875 for the McHenry County PADS Shelters this past weekend. They slept outside in boxes, tents, and sleeping bags to raise awareness and funds, and weathered the rain and cooler temperatures. The students from our LOC DOWN and the LIFT bands helped us get the rally started. We thank them for their enthusiasm and dedication to help to those in need as they truly lived out the gospel this weekend. |

Egg Hunt Thanks
Light of Christ hosted an Easter Egg Hunt for children in our community on Saturday, April 23, 2011. We saw the delight of over 325 children and their families hunting for 10,000 eggs, that were filled by members of our congregation and preschool. New this year was a Special Needs area, which was a big hit, and will be continued. Also, over 4,000 door hangers were distributed throughout the areas around Westfield inviting our new neighbors to the Easter Egg Hunt and to Easter worship. Thank you to all the volunteers who donated their time (and candy and plastic eggs) to making this a wonderful event. Also a thank you goes out to the following sponsors:

Dental Care of Algonquin, Dr. Sherman
Women's Retreat Wrap-up
Seventy-five women enjoyed the LOC Games of Life Women's Retreat last weekend at the beautiful Delavan Lake Resort. They learned about how to put God as "Master of the {Game}Board", what is at the "Heart of the Game", the "Cards They've Been Dealt", and how "No One Can Take Your Turn". In addition to the fun that was had, we lovingly decorated journal covers and delivered them to the women of Turning Point. Along with the journals, boxes and boxes of food and tolietries were also delivered.
Looking ahead, we hope you will mark your calendar watch for next year's Women's Retreat for another fun weekend of connecting with God and one another. |
