Memorial Day Weekend2011

Memorial Day Tournament

It's been a long wait for summer this year and it looks like it's finally here!  The weather for the weekend looks great for fishing as of this writing so we're all systems go on the Annual Memorial Day tournament.  This tournament targets Drum, Striper and the highly contested Bluefish!  Just $100 to get in at the Captains Meeting, 7pm Friday.

A BIG THANK YOU to United Yacht Sales who is supplying the roasted pork, chicken and more for this tournament.  Be sure and stop by the club Sunday afternoon for a funday cocktail, great eats and tournament results.

While we're talking fishing, did you hear that member boat Nasty Habit released a Sailfish out of Cape May last week?

Club Business

We had a nice turn out for the special meetings held on May 20.

At the meeting we approved:

  • Adding text to our bylaws that states we will follow Federal, State and IRS laws if the club is ever dissolved
  • Filing for federal non-profit status as required by our by-laws, liquor license, and founding charter
  • Return of the club property to the club corporation from the defunct holding corp to close tax and ownership concerns

All of these attorney recommended motions were passed and the attorney and accountant are moving forward with these updates. A big thank you to everyone for supporting this effort. Having a solid corporate structure is critical to our club standing the test of time and we're on our way to cleaning up the loose ends.
