Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club
Spring2011
President's Corner

We have a lot going on as we roll into 2011.  We are near record levels for membership and have a solid volume of new members that I am confident will be great additions to our club and tournaments.

I did not expect that my first month's as President would be consumed with addressing old corporate matters but ensuring the club corporate, tax and legal status are healthy is important.  As we move forward we're making it a point to keep you informed.  To that end you should have received notification of a special meeting to support needed updates.  Our path forward is clear and while it requires some formalities and effort, taking care of these legacy items will make our organization even stronger.

Beyond the paperwork we're even more charged up about a great 2011 fishing season.  Eldee published the tournament Calendar on our updated website http://marlinandtuna.com/ so please be sure to check it out to make sure you and your crews will be a part of the action.  We're getting started InShore shortly with the Ray Vandergriff Memorial Drumfish Tournament starting May 12 and the Memorial Day Tournament...you guessed it, Memorial Day weekend.  June features our Jr. Angler tournament and we'll start to turn our sights to the blue water with the Shark / Tuna tournament.

As always we'll be watching for the first white and blue marlin.  In addition to the trophies, this year's first white marlin boat will receive a $200 Bar credit at the club, which at our prices is a lot of Jaager...or whatever your choice(s) may be for the night.

We have a unique club that champions the sport we love, in a time where our sport and the fish we chase are under great pressure.  Your support of today's club functions, and its ability to stand the test of time, is important.

Thank you,
Michael Lawrence
