2010 Tournament Season
Hot enough for ya?  We're off to a great start for the 2010 tournament season.  The stripers and drum were in good supply for our spring tournaments, we had an impressive Mako take the Shark tournament plus a monster Tuna (273lbs) to win the tuna Category during that same event.  Then the kids rocked it with over 40 Jr Anglers participating in this years Jr. Angler tournament.   What more can you ask for?

Glad you asked!
How about a brand new tournament in our off-shore line up to kick off the season.  The Canyon Kick-Off will be held this weekend and we expect a great showing of member boats.  At the time of this writing I believe that First White and First Blue are still open for the club.  The billfish have certainly been spotted and at least one non-member boat found a release.  The Captains Meeting for the Canyon Kick-Off will be held this Friday July 2, and fishing will be Saturday from 6:00 am lines in to 4:00 pm lines out.  Boats are welcome to fish outside these hours however the catch will only count during lines in.

So catch-em up over the holiday weekend but don't pack the gear yet since we're back at it the following weekend, July 10.  The Shockley Off-Shore tournament will again be held the same weekend as the Ocean Viking.  Have an Ocean or Viking? you can fish both as most members did last year.  Running something else...sign up for the club tournament and get in the mix.  Captains meeting will be Friday July 9.  Fishing will be Saturday July 10 from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

As a reminder, club boats must fish at least 1 club tournament to participate in the 2010 Challenge Cup.

Your membership enables club operations and events and your participation makes this place great.  Our membership numbers are very strong but we need to continue to bring new members in so please extend a membership invitation to quality friends and fishermen.

Thank you,

The club needs your involvement
Our club runs almost entirely on volunteer efforts.  You don't need to be local to be on the board or a committee and we can use most every talent you have.

Open positions:
PR Support
Ever think about writing for the paper or magazines?  This role involves coverage of club events and working with our press connections to publish.

Photography:
We'd like to have photographers for our events so let us know when you are ready to shoot.  Beyond that, all of you should be capturing life's moments and loading them to our full resolution photo and video site where you can have your own folder for your stuff.

Committees
Consider joining a committee this year or participating on the board. Membership, tournaments, PR, there's something for everyone.  We really want to engage the next generation of leaders for our club.

The Board
The club needs leadership.  Serving on the board you will help set the course for this great organization.  It's a great way to contribute and a learning experience.  We need your help in shaping the present and future of our historic club.
