Barbecue Saturday
It's time for a barbecue with Monadnock Aviation. Please join us Saturday at noon for burgers and dogs.
January's barbecue is sure to be fun. We have special guests Linda Cioffi and Bruce Ashcraft who have generously agreed to present thoughts and pictures of their great flying adventures in Alaska. Linda and Bruce are a fun, local flying duo who have an answer to that nagging question "What do I do with my pilot's license now?" Please join us for this presentation January 21st at noon. |

Congratulations
Congratulations to Eric Martens for his first
solo flight! What a prepared and capable student pilot he has been. Look for Eric in the Captain's seat of your airliner
in a few years. Eric trains in our Piper Warrior, N43337, with CFI Rick Bendel.
Congratulations to Tony Pickering for earning his Private Pilot License. Tony transitioned, with great ease, from the sport pilot world and now is licensed to fly-- medical and all. Tony trained with CFI Rick Bendel and had his checkride with Designated Pilot Examiner Greg Livernois. |

Safety Seminar
We are thrilled to announce our next safety seminar. FAA New England Region's Deputy Flight Surgeon Doctor Joseph Ray will join us on January 17th from 6 to 8PM. Dr. Ray will discuss medical topics and trends of current interest to aviators and we will be sure to save plenty of time to address your questions.
Please check back soon at www.faasafety.gov to register for this seminar. |

Small Airframe Needed
The Cheshire Children's Museum has found a home! After 18 months of fund raising they are now located in Keene's Colony Mill Marketplace.
The museum is putting together hands-on exhibits for children to touch, climb on and explore. One of the exhibits they are planning is an "around the world" exhibit where children would have a travel agent desk complete with airline tickets. They could board an airplane (as you might imagine, this is where we come in), build the pyramids of Egypt, dig for dinosaur bones, climb Mount Everest and more.
To assist the Children's Museum, we are looking for a small airframe to modify and make safe for children to sit in, manipulate the controls, and dream. Airworthiness is not a requirement; we will donate the time to make it kid friendly and put the exhibit together. A small airframe or experimental would be best suited as their space is somewhat limited.
Please email me if you have an airframe, small flight suits, or other items that you are willing to donate to this exhibit. The donations will go to a 501c(3)non-profit organization and be tax deductible. |

Redbird Flight Simulator
December is here and it looks like cold weather and icing conditions are on the way. How will you keep your pilot skills proficient? Use our Redbird LD Flight Simulator this winter.
Our flight instructors can control most parameters of your flight including
weather, equipment failures, and other simulated
emergency situations. We can also reposition the "aircraft" to the VOR or elsewhere with the push of a button -- making the simulator a very efficient way to train.
We do offer block time savings. A 3 hour block of flight instruction in the simulator costs $260, a $55 savings over normal pricing. A 6 hour block of instruction costs $490, a $140 savings over normal pricing. These offers can also be purchased as gift certificates to give to that special pilot in your life! |

Cessna's Aging Aircraft Program
Cessna is launching an aging aircraft inspection program. This is to address concerns of possible corrosion and fatigue stress on its fleet of single-engine aircraft produced between 1946 and 1986.
This supplemental inspection is primarily visual and will be added to service manuals for 200-series aircraft this month and for 100-series aircraft in April. Compliance deadlines will take place two years after the programs are released-December 2013 for the 200 series, and June 2014 for the 100 series.
The inspections will vary by model, aircraft age and hours of operation, Cessna says, but adds the program was developed to coincide with the annual inspection.
We invite you to discuss any concerns you may have regarding your aging aircraft or this inspection program with Monadnock Aviation's Maintenance Director, Ross Phipps. |
