Barbecue and Open House Saturday
It is time to eat, drink, and be merry with Monadnock Aviation. Please join us Saturday at noon for a barbecue. |
|
Following the barbecue, all are invited to an Open House at our maintenance facility. We would like you to see our maintenance hangar and meet Ross Phipps, our A&P IA. Ross comes to us with 18 years of general aviation maintenance experience. He is a pilot as well. In just a few weeks, he has proven himself to be extremely competent and great member of our team.
Thank you to all of our maintenance customers who waited patiently as we transitioned from Eddie to Ross. We feel confident that Ross was worth the wait!
Don't forget to ask Ross about dynamic prop balancing. The results have been fantastic! |
| Too Good To Last
The FAA has announced it will begin charging for chart downloads that, so far, have been free. This to start April 5, 2012. This change will likely impact those of you using ForeFlight, WingX, and other online services. How much impact is not known yet as the FAA has not announced what it will charge for the data. This change will also mean no more access to the information for individuals-- only companies with distribution contracts will have direct access to the data. The FAA has agreed to a December meeting with aviation industry representatives to discuss this issue.

Mentors Wanted
AOPA research indicates that over 70% of those who begin flight training never earn their pilot's license. We all know that life and finances get in the way of flying sometimes. Interestingly, the research allows for money and time as factors but also strongly points toward a lack of aviation support structure for the low completion rate.
Toward that point, we are looking for pilots in the Keene area who are interested in acting as mentors for local student pilots. Exactly how much time you put into this will be up to you and your mentoree. Our goal is to provide students a personal contact with someone local who has been through flight training. Being able to discuss a botched landing, training plateau or other flight frustrations may be the difference between a new pilot and an attrited student. Here are some helpful tips from AOPAs mentor program. Please shoot me an email if you're interested in "fostering" a Keene student pilot. |

Redbird Flight Simulator
Have you flown a Redbird LD Flight Simulator? We invite you to try ours. Redbird Flight Simulations is changing the nature flight instruction with talk of a complete private pilot course with only 5 hours in the actual aircraft. Imagine that! While we're not proposing that yet, we do believe simulators are a very effective and efficient way to train.
Come in to learn a new skill or brush the dust off of an old one.
Our flight instructors can control the parameters of your flight such as equipment failures, weather, and other
simulated emergency situations. We can also reposition the "aircraft" with the push of a button making the simulator a very efficient way to train.
You can purchase block time for the simulator. A 3 hour block of flight instruction in the simulator costs $260, a $55 savings over normal pricing. A 6 hour block of instruction costs $490, a $140 savings over normal pricing. These offers can also be purchased as gift certificates to give to that special pilot in your life! |

Now That's an Airport Cop!
Many of you know Rick's background in law enforcement. Without question he tends to be a take charge kind of guy. I can assure you this video is not him running down someone who forgot to pay for fuel at KEEN! |
