Why Come to Keene?

For a Family Get-Away!

The kids are back in school, the leaves are beginning to change, cold weather is around the corner.  How about a great family weekend at The Inn at East Hill Farm in nearby Troy, NH?  Get away one last time before winter sets in.  Enjoy horseback riding, campfires, scavenger hunts, a game of basketball, and so much more-- all in a lovely farm setting.

If the farm is not your idea of fun, then consider a romantic weekend at the Chesterfield Inn.   And while you are here, be sure to have dinner at Luca's Mediterranean Cafe and take in a movie or show at The Colonial Theatre on Keene's fabulous Main Street.

And save the date for our Oktoberfest barbeque, October 2nd.

Welcome aboard Jim.
Poker Run

The New England 99's Poker Run is this Saturday!  You can start the run at any participating airport after 9:30am and finish by 2:00pm in Nashua where prizes for the best hands will be awarded.

Buy-in at Monadnock Aviation or anywhere along the way; $10.00 per hand or 3 for $25.00.  The other participating airports are Turners Falls, MA, Fitchburg, MA, Parlin, NH, and Nashua, NH.
You do not have to fly to every airport to play.
Aircraft Owners Take Note

The FAA no longer mails Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Special Airworthiness Information Bulletins (SAIBs) to aircraft owners.  These are now being provided through email.

You can sign up for this email service online by clicking on subscribe for email delivery of ADs and SAIBs.  You can also mail a pre-printed, postage-paid postcard, which is available at Monadnock Aviation, or contact the FAA by telephone at 405-954-4103.  As in the past, the information will continue to be available online at the above link.
New Publications

The Terminal Procedures, Airport Facility Directory, and IFR Enroute Charts will expire on September 23rd.  Replacements will be available at Monadnock Aviation.

Never discover that your charts have already expired again.  Place a standing order with us and we'll notify you when your charts are about to expire then we'll deliver the new charts to your aircraft or hold them at the FBO for pick up.   We offer this service for free to help keep your charts current.
Line Up and Wait

Beginning September 30th you will hear new words from ATC at towered airports.  Instead of "position and hold" you will be instructed to "line up and wait" when taxiing onto a departure runway to await takeoff clearance.
You can learn more at this link

Safety Seminars

Did you know you can receive notices whenever a safety seminar is scheduled near you?  FAASafety.Gov  has information about seminars, the FAA Safety Team, the WINGS Program, and more.

September 21 - No seminar.

October 19 - Speaker being confirmed.

November 16 Post Accident Survival
Most aircraft accidents are survivable. Whether the pilot and passengers remain alive to be rescued is often a matter of whether they were prepared for the post-accident survival situation. This seminar will focus on how to be prepared for basic land survival in winter conditions.  The speakers are John Wood from the Portland FSDO and Rick Bendel, CFII.

Coming Soon:
Discuss medical certificate issues with FAA New England Region Deputy Flight Surgeon Dr. Joseph Ray.
